Surely the connector cover and cable are plastic... which would match the photo, plastic has melted and dripped onto the casing, heat and chemicals have discoloured the aluminium...

I only mentioned because it was flash that took OSX down in the hacking test they did against windows osx and ubuntu a while back, cant remember the name of it though.0
