But you're thinking the same as me!
I didn't realise that proper uni's offered media?
I can't say anything as sociology (my subject) is considered a mickey mouse subject by many too and I go to a new uni!
Having said that, I've done a couple of media modules and I can see why it has a bad reputation!0 -

Yes I did mean to have an essay looked at after it had been marked to see if it could be improved. the problem is I get 2.1's in my exams but 2.1- or 2.2+ in my other essays. i think problem is in exams I make myself stick to the subjecy but in open essays try to cram too much in.
That sounds like your problem tbh. At my university there are generalised mark schemes for coursework telling you what is required, in broad terms, for each grade boundary. These may be able to help you?
I would also second reading your essays a day or two after you finish them (time permitting before the deadline) to check it is focussed and that you have answered the question.0 -
From my own experience (currently on a Masters degree in a science subject) I have submitted drafts to be marked, but only disstertation type project to supervisors for feedback and advice. From conversations with other people at my university this is quite common?
Otherwise we have had individual feedback sheets when we picked up marked coursework and sometimes generalised feedback sessions organised for everyone on the module. However, in my experience it really varied depending on the course organiser. It was however VERY annoying when they wanted a second essay handed in before they gave you feedback on the first!0 -

Oh yes, I know that one! Very frustrating!0 -

Full-text search in OED online brings up nothing for 'deflamination'. I wondered if annoyed customer meant 'defamation', or possibly 'misrepresentation'.0 -

Somehow i think this is starting to get off topic....
Basically to the OP, as others have said using "services" to check your work will be cheating. Best thing to do is to either get friends/family to check over it and see if it generally makes sense.
As your only in first year i wouldnt worry overly much, if you wait until you get it back there should be feedback so you can apply it to your next essay.0
