Absolute consumerist rubbish! No wonder education is in such a dire straight!0 -
OP, if you have special needs and need a proof reader you can be provided with one through DSA. These proof readers will only look for mistakes connected to your disability (if you're dyslexic they'll look at spelling/grammar), they wont look at the content of the essay and certainly wont tell you how to improve your essay (aside from better spelling).
If you "buy" the sort of services you've mentioned then you're cheating and if you need to cheat in 1st year then you're in trouble.0 -

what is helms?
Yes I did mean to have an essay looked at after it had been marked to see if it could be improved. the problem is I get 2.1's in my exams but 2.1- or 2.2+ in my other essays. i think problem is in exams I make myself stick to the subjecy but in open essays try to cram too much in.
The showing drafts to a tutor sounds good but not available to me I don't think. Maybe I could ask them to explain their comments more? they will only look at the plan and intro! Thanks all just an idea.0 -

You sound as if you know the problem and the solution but don't act on it.0 -
If you don't already do it, proof reading the day after you have finished it, coming back to it with a fresh mind, is def worth doing.0

You seem to have a very strange idea of education. Perhaps you think that if you bung the tutor a couple of tenners they should give you a better grade?0 -

I'm amazed your uni allows this tbh.
Are you actually at uni, or college, as this seems more of an FE service?0 -
what's the essay topic?0

Very strange - are you at a proper university or a preparatory course?
