  • The Takeaway Secret Sausage McMuffins, pork mince, add a teaspoon of dried sage, salt and pepper shape into patties and grill or pan fry, serve in toasted muffins with a fried egg (done in a ring if you want it authentic) slice of processed cheese, for the optional real Mc taste wrap in greaseproof and place in warm oven for a couple of mins. Serve with a hash brown.

Lovely! And my kids reckon they are spot on!

  • I've just posted about 'Ants Climbing a Tree' in the 'what are you making for dinner' thread, so am sharing it here as well.

It's a Chinese dish that can make a little bit of mince go a long way. The recipe is pretty flexible - I use rice noodles instead of mung bean noodles, and have subbed sweet chilli sauce for the chilli bean paste.

You can add grated veg to it to make it go even further, or to get kids to eat their carrots!
  • How about pork and apple burgers?
Put the mince in a bowl with a finely chopped onion, a grated apple (peeled first) a beaten egg, salt & pepper, fresh or dried sage to taste. Squidge it all together to mix and then take out a medium sized handful. I usually push a chunk of chees in the middle and then shape it into a fat burger. Fry on a medium heat (they take a while to cook 'cos mine are usually quite big). They are GORGEOUS!!!! If nobody knows the cheese is there it's a lovely surprise when you get to the middle.

I've just tried these - the mixture seems very wet. Loved the cheesy middle idea though!
    Will cook them later.
