mix the miced pork with 2/3 crushed cloves of garlic, add teaspoon or so of cumin and some seasoning. Mix together, with your hands with necessary, and leave for an about an hour for the flavours to develop.
Roll mixture into small balls and brown gently in a non-stick pan, add tomato sauce, either homemade of from a jar.

For preference would you boil or steam ?
I'm guessing that a bamboo steamer might be best, but I've had similar things boiled from Thai street vendors and they really are delicious.
I can't think why I haven't made my own.
A tip for fans of chilli dipping sauces:
I pickle my own chillies - when I finish a jar the used pickling vinegar can be reduced down with sugar (or honey) , garlic and ginger - dead simple.
I steam mine in a bamboo steamer. It's easier not to overcook in a steamer0 -
Thanks again Misskool, that's what I thought, it's nice to have my theories confirmed.Gus.0

There are some lovely ideas here so I've added this thread to the main one on using minced pork.

i am making sausage patties for egg mcmuffins i was just looking at the prices online on Sainsburys. The cheaper one looks more like rope is it worth paying the extra 99p and getting the extra lean organic one? also does it have gristle?0
-
I suppose it depends on what the price per pound/kilo is as to whether that 99 pence difference is significant or not to you. You should expect the cheaper one to have a higher fat-content and that all depends on whether it matters to you or not as well. As with all ground meat you can't expect not to have some connective tissue in there. The only way to avoid it completely is to mince up your own.0

I managed to pick up a few packs of pork mine today (yellow stickered) and have put them in the freezer but I have no idea what to make with them.
I am hoping someone can inspire me. Something like a lasagne or chilli type meal rather than burgers or meatballs as I don't find that stretches the meat out across enough meals lol!0 -
We have pork mince meatballs with a fruit type of curry sauce (jalfrazie SP? and apply sauce instead of mango chutney). Its nice done as cottage pie with apple sauce on the side or small pork meatballs casseroled with cooking apple/cider type sauce. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
