Have a great time Cbm  Hope all your boiler and computer are back up and running soon. What with the washing machine - they say everything goes in threes! We had an appliance service agreement with British Gas but cancelled it as the money we paid out for it over the year could have bought us a new appliance every year. They're so cheap to buy these days it's just not worth it.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Enjoy London:D
Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D
  • Our weekend was brilliant! The show was fantastic, lovely hotel room (comfy and WARM) and lovely pootling round on Saturday. We visited lots of the places Covent Garden, Hyde Park, Trafalger Square etc. I'm not sure if the biggest surprise was seeing the flock of parakeets (sp?) in Hyde Park, or seeing a rally against male violence (my previous jobs have involved domestic violence work so a cause very dear to my heart).
Unfortunately I woke up on Saturday with a sore throat and went downhill from there; by yesterday I was fit for nothing with temperature and not able to eat/frequent trips to the loo. I went to bed late afternoon and woke up at 10pm feeling fab, cold symptoms gone but ravenous so came down and had porridge! Woke up this morning and cold is back - head, nose, throat and miserable! I'm not sure if it is OH's bug or I bumped into something in London I wasn't immune to.
I phoned the boiler company today and they assured me the part has arrived and the engineer will come today. I really hope that it all gets fixed and stays fixed - I'm very fed up with being cold!
I'm also missing the pc hugely; the programme I use for the accounts (ms money) is installed on that machine and without it I can't work out how we're doing financially. DD has asked to borrow some money, DS1 has bought his flights so he can come back for easter and OH says his car needs a new cambelt so I really need to work out how it is all going to fit together.
I have got the washing out in the sunshine and given the utility a wipe-over as it was a bit grim, I hope to hoover through but feel a bit weak and feeble at the moment. I could really do with a snooze which is ridiculous at 10am!!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine...

  • Thanks for your good wishes, still feeling a bit grotty today, its eyes/face/head today so possibly sinuses (I've never had a cold like this before!)

The computer came back last night and I've been bringing the accounts up to date . The joint account is going to be stretched with all the calls on it this month; there is some money in a linked joint account (that I had mentally earmarked for MBNA card) which I might need to transfer over just to keep the thing in credit, and I think the cambelt will need to wait until April. Funny how not keeping such an eye on it has meant that we've spent quite a bit more on groceries over the last 3 weeks.

Today I was hoping to do the ironing, although my face is quite painful and I might end up sleeping. I would quite like to go and get some groceries to keep us going until I can get my act together for a sensible shop and cook. Do I need a bell 'unclean, unclean'....?!

Lemon Tree was the bug you got from your MIL - or is MIL a sort of flu?? How is your sister doing? DD has asked to borrow some money, to stop her account going overdrawn and thus getting excessive charges. She wasn't expecting gym membership and phone to come out at the same time - both of these are exceedingly good bargains, of course.....

unfortunately the flu occured at the same time as a weekend visit to MIL therefore had to still leave the house every day to escape, and whilst i was there she just ignored my suffering (but we did have 'the' arguement on the first night we were there, and it had been a long time coming.

My sister has just had the family income cut again, due to her 'not being good with forms' but she thinks that she should be able to just scrape by each month with only a £10 deficit. Which i seem to be currently working on making up as she can't be bothered to do the free scratch cards (after about a week) so i've been doing hers for her and drawing her the funds out when she reaches the withdrawal limits. She's also had to borrow money from me for a few days over the last couple of months to keep them within their overdraft, unfortunately i don't have any more spare for a little while now to help her with.
  • Lemon Tree - that sounds like an awful time with MIL. Grrr for sister too, horrible to watch isn't it.

I was in the office yesterday, a very long full day as catching up from time off etc, and still feeling carp with bug. Cycling home just about finished me off and I was in bed before 9pm! Woke up this morning feeling very much refreshed and better, and am working from home this morning then a meeting the other side of the county so long drives there and back. Hopefully a low-stress undemanding day which will see me fully recovered.

Money-wise in the boring period! Nothing expected in for a few days, trying to restrict the pennies going out. I've paid DD the money she needed ('loan'), paid DS1 for his airfare home for easter :j - that's a known and agreed expense, told OH the car can't get done this month. I reckon we'll definitely need to dip into the joint 'savings' account to keep the joint account in credit - which will have a knock on effect on the mbna card as the money won't be there to pay it off.

    Cheers all

  • Just a quick entry while I wait for my work machine to synchronise - I need a tapping fingers smilie!

No change on the money front; I've got 3 x 99p bids on items on ebay, terribly tedious watching the money dribble in so slo-w-l-y; but every little helps I suppose and at least its clearing the clutter out of this house. Actually I'm feeling a bit fed up with ebay and didn't list anything last night (my pattern has been to list things on Thursdays to run for 10 days and finish on the Sunday). I might try and list a load of stuff on turbolister this weekend to keep me going through the next few weeks, once the items are on Turbolister, photos taken etc I find its not such a painful process. Now the pc is back it should all be a lot easier.

I've also signed up for a load of online mystery shops, so hopefully I'll be able to turn those round quite fast and that will bring in a few pounds.

There are lots of plans for the weekend; tomorrow I'm delivering a training course for job #2 and then going to the in-laws for tea. Sunday OH is out all day, leaving me completely alone for the first mother's day since DD was born (1986), so ebaying, MS and some baking I think - but slobbing around at my own speed - who knows there might be time to come and browse MSE too! :rotfl:

    Have a good weekend
