Morning all!
SA - its precisely because people miss me at work that I like to work at home! 'Out of sight, out of mind' and all that; I get surprisingly few emails and phone calls.;)
PBH I don't feel that I'm nearly debt free, it took a long time to sink in that we owed more than £15K -perhaps it never did? And owing nearly £3K still feels like a long slow slog. So I don't think that helps with my sleeping.
Milann I'm so pleased for you :j. Excellent news.
Lemon Tree - what does being an interim treasurer entail? It might be interesting (ok that might be scraping the barrel...). Have a fab weekend with OH.
Cheers all

Yesterday OH and I went out for the day, we went to the 'ghost village' of Tyneham where the inhabitants were evacuated for the army to practice during the war, and they weren't allowed back. Very interesting as its stuck in time with displays etc, but a very sad air about it.
Today is a more mundane day, with cleaning and stuff. Also ebay listings will finish this afternoon, so I'll be keeping an eye on them. Curiously one of the items listed to finish next weekend has got a bid on already. Once they're sold I'll pack them up ready for payment.
I hope to also do the scary Rosemary Conley video , and there is loads of stuff for my voluntary work that needs doing; preparing for the training course next weekend and the admin I put off the other day. Ho hum.
Hope others have a more interesting day!

£3K might seem a hard slog but look how far you have come! (Ok it might take a few years to sink in afterwards that you are finally debt free:D)Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D0 -

Hi CBM
You've done so well not only have you reduced your debt by £12K but have lived without credit etc so have set up good habits for the future. :A
I'm battling with my MBNA card which has a balance of £3+K and although I'm only paying small amounts off it whenever I get some extra income it is coming down much quicker than just the monthly payments.
Have a good day!

It won't be long now Cbm. I'm down to my last couple of hundred and it seems like it's taking longer to get rid of this last bit than the rest of the £5k I started off with. It's thanks to the Debt Free Diaries that I'm paying whatever I can at the moment, even on a vastly reduced income, to finally get rid by the end of March.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Hi all
Thanks for all your posts reminding me just how much we've paid off - and yes excellent point about breaking the cycle of spending money on credit (TBH I can't imagine doing that now, which I guess shows how far we've come!)
I'm working from home today and tomorrow. All is well with banks etc, done clicks. 4 of my ebay things sold on sunday, and I posted 3 yesterday and will post the other today - its wrapped etc. I'm using the stamps I've been getting from doing the Royal Mail surveys, just as well really as there is not very much profit in ebay when you sell things for 99p and people pay by paypal!
Cheers all

funnily enough i was chatting at work with a collegue, and it struck me that whilst you're in the red it's easy to continue the downward spiral of getting more and more debt, but after lots of hard work to turn it around, i've now got more disposable income to throw at my debts and it seems to keep growing little by little, yet i'm not quite sure where it's coming from.
It's almost like the 'free' funds are spiralling in the other direction with a life of their own. I'm not complaining but i have to say that in the last couple of months i've been gobsmacked by what i can put away as extra payments and keep wondering what i did with it before.
sorry that probably makes more sense in my head than it does on here.0 -
One thing we really need to get our heads round this year is to stop putting stuff on the credit card before we have the money for it. We've got a "spending" card which gets paid off in full by direct debit every month but although we always manage to find the money to clear it, we really need to have the money before we spend it, if you get my drift. The first thing I'm going to do once I'm debt free is to work on getting this sorted otherwise I'm in real danger of ending up back in debt.
I agree with you Cbm about ebay. You think you've done well until you see what's left after everyone has taken their cut and then you think was it worth all that effort?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Yep I agree the extra money does seem to come more easily - or is it because we notice it more? I wonder if because I think 'yipee 7.50 more towards the card' whereas before I would just have spent it. I did feel a bit worried when job #2 came to an end (just one tiny bit of money to come from there), but then got distracted by BB, and now that's come to an end I am looking at ebay and getting bits of money there. I suppose also we put in the effort?Jan 08: Debt £15,211  Debt cleared April 30th 2010Proud to have dealt with my debt!
