hi, feels like payday is a long way away for me and it's only on thursday but i've started the count down to Jan's payday for some unknown reason.

We still haven't bought a single thing towards christmas food, i know we don't have to do any of the cooking but we haven't even been for our normal grocery shopping.

still not received the cd from CD WOW so OH has instructions to phone me with the details later so i can ring them and shout at them. 2 1/2 weeks for a cd and now i'll have to buy it in a shop.
  • Good morning
I ended up taking an extra day's leave today, as I have loads of holiday 'banked' and just feel *tired* - I guess its the time of year. Got up this morning at 9.30 and have come on to the pc to finish a whole load of online mystery shops that I'm doing, a couple of boring but profitable hours. I've done scratchies and bingo, and nothing. I've also played all my TAB bonus money and not made a penny, so have decided to scrap that, its been a really long time since I made anything out of it and so not worth doing.

    So today:
Mystery shops / surveys until lunch time
    Hoover
    Washing
Menu plan for next week, can hopefully go right through without grocery shopping
    Accounts

    Cheers all

  • Well, I spent about 4 hours doing surveys yesterday, but made quite a lot of progress.
The joint account that I'm trying desperately to keep out of overdraft is very touch and go, today its in credit - just. I've been very disciplined about the Bingo money going to my MBNA card as it hits my bank account so the balance there is now £2,892.50, with more to come as another £5 today. Its getting harder and harder to transfer the money though, as we could really do with it in the bank accounts. Or to spend!

DD is determined to go to London today - probably already gone, so hopefully she'll get all the way back and we won't have to do a dark and frosty drive to fetch her. I can picture the phone call now: DD: 'hi, happy christmas!! Any chance of a lift' us: 'where are you'.... DD: 'Reading' or 'Paddington'...... Ho hum!

    Have a fab Christmas all

  • Happy Boxing Day, and I'm pleased to say all really is quite happy in the CB house!
Yesterday was really nice, food worked well, the children were amazing :happyhear - I really love having grown up children. When they were young family type dos could be quite stressful with fighting and squabbles - none of that at all. OH organised lunch and I did tea, so no one was stuck in the kitchen too long. The in-laws seemed quite happy, and we all played Cranium (a la freebie) in the afternoon, before Dr Who / snoozes for some!

I was incredibly lucky with gifts, with OH giving me a trip to the theatre in March - I'm very excited and looking forward to it. He liked his stuff, as did the children, and I got to watch DS1 opening his pressies on Skype. :D

The only cloud on the horizon is with money. I accidentally clicked on the wrong card in the M&S site and now owe about £15 on my visa - which was cleared some months ago. I'll be able to pay it off next month so there will be no interest but I'm annoyed with myself for being so careless. I think the joint account will be about £50 overdrawn at the end of the month, and its a bit touch and go about keeping my own bank account in credit too. :wall: I'm pretty sure we'll finish the month below £3K so its another milestone, but if we're going to be DF by end May we needed to be sub £2,500. Having said that, we started the year owing more than £10K so we haven't done badly! We are meeting my parents on Wednesday which is going to cost an arm and a leg in petrol and lunch - shame we can't skype them!

    Cheers

Know what you mean about the pleasures of children growing up. Likewise dh and ds did their fair share in kitchen and all went well.

Only thing to marr my day was news that dd wasn't well and waiting emergency doc. Got news this morning she has been admitted and on iv drip to rehydrate her. Postponing our trip by a day to see if she might be back home by then - I'll be glad when they find out the cause of these problems - wish she lived nearer.

Had a very lazy time here though - much needed and appreciated.

glad to hear you had a good christmas cbm,
hope your DD is ok millann.

2009 is going out in style in LT land, this morning the roof fell down in the porch (been on the cards, just hope idiot upstairs finally gets his act together so we can replace the bloomin thing), then the deep fat fryer dies (less than a year old but OH can't find the receipt), so now i'm waiting for the third thing to happen.
  • LT you don't need a third thing so stop thinking like that! But in case you think I'm wrong (and you wouldn't be alone there :rotfl:) why not take the initiative, find a perfectly good match (that you'd use for lighting candles), and snap it in half and throw it away. A friend of mine does that when two things have broken (she doesn't believe me about the 3s either!!)

Milann I'm glad you had a lazy day - sounded like you needed it. Hope DD is feeling better.

All ok here, I've just won another £5 on BB - amazing! LT did you ever tot up how much you won over your 30 days?

Joint account is still, amazingly, in credit. :T I've no more money to put in it now though, so if things clear in the bank tomorrow or Thursday its tough.

We saw my parents yesterday instead of today, and it was lovely to see them. We spent some time walking - chilly but pretty, and had lunch. Their present to the kids were vouchers for supermarkets, sadly a supermarket that 2 of them can't get to so I guess I'll buy the vouchers from them. :o And to us - a chestnut roaster  . We have a collection of stuff in the loft from them that we've not used, so I guess the chestnut roaster will go with the rest. Its funny how I can be really ruthless with stuff in the house and throw it or sell it if its not useful or beautiful, but am unable to do that with their presents.

    Cheers

i know what you mean about not wanting to clear daft presents from some people.
I did add up what i won from BB and it was roughly £120 which i was really pleased with. OH's run on it now has finished and he made between £75 - £100.
