Bunny, that looks like a really good idea for lego.

That's really great Bunny. I was actually thinking of doing something along those lines for DGS lego. I've got in a big container atm. The instructions I had was to use grommits but I didn't have a gadget for them. What did you use? It looks like tape that you sewed on to form a casing for the cord.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I would have prefered to use grommits but like you, I don't have one and didn't really want to fork out for one! Basically cut out 2 large circles of material and zig zaged the edges together so it won't fray. I had some elasticated tape from my mothers stash so I just cut strips off and zig zagged them on at intervals making sure there was enough room to get the cord in. If I was making it again I might even invest in the grommit gadget but I would definatly use tape in a similar colour and put them closer together but that was all I had available!

I wish I'd made one of those when DD & DS1&2 were young!

Instead of grommits you could make button holes and thread the cord inand out, but only if your machine does a good automatic buttonhole...which my old faithful doesn't.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Love the lego bag Bunny -wish I'd made one when my kids were younger too!

I've done a spot of sewing today. Nothing very exciting or professional looking though. I've been using an old sheet to line my laundry hamper for months. I've been tying it on in a rather haphazard manner and having to re-tie it every time I take it out of the basket.

Today I made part of the sheet into a bag to fit inside the hamper so that I can take it out full of dirty washing.

I used the deep hemmed edge of the sheet as the top of the bag and unpicked the two sides of the hem so that I could thread a cord through. It's not half bad and it does the job;)
  • Hi all, I love the lego bag what a great idea. I noticed JOLLYMUM was planning on maing bunting. I recently made 25m for my sons birthday party he chose the fabric himself. I'm about to make some more for my daughter but i thought i would post up these instructions. I put them on the occasions board as well. Let me know what you think?. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/trustedthreads/bunting.jpg

    Bunny that is fab !!!!
Pennypinching mum - brilliant bunting, well mine is doing my head in, I am having major headaches with my VERY old singer and it keeps eating fabric. I have one flag left to sew but need a break so I'm going to finish off a wedding sampler I'm making for some friends tonight and make a birthday card if I get time too.
Does anyone here get the Sew hip magazine? I've treated myself to a few copies and it's got some lovely stuff in and comes with a full size pattern every month.

I bought the June issue of Prima, and phoned for the pattern. It was 75p per min but I timed the call and it was under two minutes and that works out at much less than to buy the pattern. It's for a really nice shift dress and jacket.
Mind you, haven't recieved it in the post yet!!!

I remember when they used to put the pattern in the copy you bought in the newsagent.
