Today I'm making a corset from scraps that I have in my sewing room, I also need to make a skirt to go with it that I have fabric for already in my huge stash! I'm hoping to have these finished or as near to complete as possible by the end of today as I need them for Tuesday but have a busy weekend ahead.

Repaired the zip in DS's coat this morning and stitched a button back onto his shirt.

I love handsewing, I find it very therapeutic.

I've got a king size 13.5 tog duvet which I don't want, so I'm going to turn it into patchwork covered lap quilts!

I'm making tags out of my old jeans that I cut up, I have enough denim patches to last a year :) I'm sewing vintage buttons on them and embroidering stars on them too! then adding recycled cardboard to one side with fabric glue.

Luxor I LOVE your rug, it's gorgeous. Can I ask what sort of paint did you use to paint your Lloyd Loom blanket box, as I've just nicked one that was left feeling sorry for itself in my Mums garage. Nothing is safe from me, I also have my eye on a couple of huge metal trunks :)

I'm in the process of making one of these skirts from this book for my daughter. I've just got to hem it and do the casing, hoping to get that done today. I made with fat quarters- one each for the front and back, another cut in half for the sides and 3 other prints cut in strips for the ruffles and bands.

We used B&Q vinyl silk emulsion (left over from something else).

Build up the colour with several thin coats (add a drop of water to the paint).

I can't use spray paints due to asthma & extreme [STRIKE]meanness[/STRIKE] frugality, but I am told they are quicker. Lots of ideas on the Shabby Chic thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1660879

Yesterday I made some jug/ plate covers & am now hand-sewing the beads around the edges. I used an odd bit of pretty ditsy floral cotton sheeting as it is drapes well, and added some pre-gathered lace. My set so far is in 3 sizes:-
    a jug cover x 2,
a cover for my single tier glass cake stand,
a cover for the plate I put sandwiches on

I'm looking to make a tray-net from a spare lace curtain (actually nylon :o), just need to get the dimensions right.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Just finished it:) I'm really pleased with it and so is daughter-phew!

My version is a lot more floral and pastelly than the example in the pic.

Sewed up the hem of a handbag thats going to the chairty shop and started to try and sort out my sewing box(es). New bedroom ready in a fortnight so can finally convert the one I am in into a sewing room/office. Looking for a pattern to make a dress for a friends wedding as cant find anything I like/that fits in the shop. Any ideas welcome (I like quirky, and am a gangly 6).
As an aside does anyone know of a good book to learn how to make lace, my greataunt used to but is now 94 and no longer is able, would like to make her something for her 94th birthday.
