    Hi tooties!

Hope it is off use to you :)
I get really excited about the stuff I see on the internet/in books that can be homemade!
But I seem to always want to make the things i know are for a much more advanced sewer! LOL!
Still havent had the guts to try sewing in a zip!!
Still it doesnt matter how long I drift along as a beginner....at least I am making things in the meantime!!

Let me know how you get on...
or if you find any useful sites for dummies, like me.

When you first start doing zips, just make sure you press the edges down well and baste it on firmly, then becomes a very easy job

Also youtube is great for how to instructions, much easier to follow than a book and you can pause each step

I am going to be a good OSM' er and I am starting to clear out the clothes from our wardrobes and drawers and anything not being worn is going to be remade, recycled, upcycled or remodelled.

I got off to a good start:

Black boot cut jeans have been turned into skinny jeans by turning inside out, pinning to get the skinny look, sewing then cutting and zig zagging the edges.

One of my t-shirts - white with silver sparkles, that I never really wore because it was not a flattering fit - I have cut off the neckline and the bottom (waist) seam and re-modelled the gathered sleeves into a straight sleeve by sewing under the gather and cutting of the upper gathered edge. And voila a lovely off the shoulder, oversized dancer style t-shirt for my daughter.

polka dot jammy bottoms that had shrunk upwards and just looked odd, I cut of the legs and turned them into pants.

Score so far - Me 3 Bin 0
  • Made 2 hanging pocket organisers for my trailer tent, using off cuts of oil-cloth. I still have the L plates on my machine, so am pleased with the results!
One has 2 large pockets for the malamine plates and bowls.
The other has 1 large pocket for trays, 2 slim pockets for cutlery and utensils.

Only cost me £1.50 to make both!!
