Well thats the 8 days done. To be honest i cant remember the last time i've went 8 days without a drink.
Todays the first opportunity, the inlaws are visiting from down south and want to "have a drink" with me before they go home tomorrow.
So it is down to whether to take the easy excuse, or not bother.
I think I'd rather go for the rest of May without a drink.
GL all, keep up the good work.
On the geordie front, I was always told a geordie was a scotsman with his brains bashed out. (not necessarily a personal opinion though)0 -
Morning everyone :j
Had a bit of a blip yesterday so still on 9 days BB. It was a calculated decision - I wanted a glass of wine ( after all my cleaning) and I decided to have 1 or 3!. Anyway in a weird sort of way I'm glad I did it because I have now learn't something about myself. My main reasons for having a drink are usually either to help me to relax or to make feel happy.
I have found that I am much more relaxed and far happier on the days that I have not been drinking and go to bed much happier and proud of myself . I also have achieved much more in the evenings/weekends and that is a BIG bonus. It also great not wake up feeling guilty about How much I drank the night before .
The Monday morning gloom is only really followed after a sunday afternoon drink !
Life is better without alcohol :T:T

Good Morning everyone.
Good to see lots of peeps making their targets.
Well done RA....4 years....:j.....How do you feel now.Do you KNOW that you will never drink again? Or do you still thnk about where you are going/what you are doing in association with alcohol.
I am going on holiday on Saturday for my first non-drinking All Inclusive holiday and everyone keeps saying 'Oh you will have a drink...you've paid for it...one wont hurt' and it does worry me a bit....although I am sure I wont have one really:rolleyes:.
I think I am still afraid of alcohol:o.....Constant Vigilence....
Hope you all have a good day

Pride comes before a fall doesn't it. My tinsy bit of smugness on Friday night soon faded. Won't try and justify it, just to say I've been on the naughty bench for the last three nights.
40sm has hit the nail on the head for me :

Along similar lines the only reason I drink is for a mind altering state, in my eyes it's to relax, but I don't really. It creates a tension. I delay and procrastinate about things. Last week I acheived so much AF free, little things that make the big things happen.
So back on the ye ol' wagon ....
So I'm back on 7 AF for the May.DC.

Good morning everybody
Another AFD to add, please, BB :T- you certainly are doing a brilliant job. I'm still working on my project (I'm a freelancer), deadline tomorrow pm, wish I hadn't taken this one on, it's such a rush. But it certainly helps to keep me away from the wine :j Only thing is, I don't even have time to sort out the washing and it's all sitting there waiting to be put away. Exams for 2 of my DDs starting this week - but all seems calm so far :TTotal AFD's May-December 2009: 178 ie 73% of total days (245 days)

You're all southerners to me
up here anywhere over the Pentland firth is 'sooth' whether its lands end or John o' Groats - :rotfl:so when you go on your holidays or go anywhere its common to hear many conversations which go like this:
'You awa on the boat?'
'Aye'
'Sooth?'
'Aye.....'

You've heard the saying "You can't choose your family" - I like to add a bit - "but you can choose how close you live"
