:hello:Just catching up. Hope everone is well and enjoying the weekend. Lots os virtual friends gone missing at the moment but maybe it's the holiday season??
wbf, congrats on your job offer. Well done!:T
And Budgie, I'm delighted you got compensation sorted from the hotel.:T Now you need to spend that money on a proper treat. You have been very unlucky with this particular hotel but there are lots of lovely places out there. Have you any leave time left?
69chick, personally I wouldn't waste an AF day on a couple of small glasses with lunch if you're driving. I'd either stick to a soft drink and clock up an AF day or have more when you get home and enjoy it!:D But that's me, we all handle our targets dfferently.
Off out for a while, enjoy your day everyone.0 -

Hello everyone :hello:
BB - thanks for your post, I'm pleased you are feeling more cheerful and well done on getting the compensation :T
WBF - congratulations on the new job, you must feel so relieved and looking forward to starting :T
GC - thanks for your post. I had a mishap last night, so that was my non-AFD for this week. Went to Sainsbury's at 5:30 pm, there was a tangible 'Friday feeling' and lots of people buying wine ... didn't help that there was a 3 for £10 offer at the front doors. I tried to shut the clanging bells up, but couldn't  So I bought and consumed some - 1.5 bottles in fact, watching television - I can remember what I watched though, thank goodness (Vivienne Westwood on Jonathan Ross ....) Felt absolutely dreadful today, played tennis as usual at 9:00, but had to be honest with my tennis friends as to why I was feeling so rough.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. I have it firmly etched in my head that I'm only allowed one non-AFD per week, so won't be tempted even if the bells start clanging later.
Have a good day everybody xxTotal AFD's May-December 2009: 178 ie 73% of total days (245 days)

Wbf, congratulations on the job :T what is it?
Budge, I am so glad the hotel have paid out. I think the first thing you need to buy is some new thigh length bootsxx
Hello to everyone else  I have caught up but have forgotten what you all said
I've been well and truely ignored by the wagon (or was I ignoring it) since 2nd July, only got 2 days in this month. I am on the wagon today hopefully and will need to be every day I think to make my target? Went out last night, free beer at a party, had quite a bit but got a lay in so no hangover to speak of. Myself and my colleague had organised the party and she went out and bought the wine, champagne and soft drinks and I got the beer. We bought £500's worth of food from a 'lay and leave' caterer (I'd love that job title
), she made beautiful vol-u-vents, sarnies, kebabs things with dips etc. We invited 200 people, probably only 50 turned up so we had to bin 70% of the food which hadn't even had the clingfilm taken off of it, probably about 25 untouched trays of food, I HATE wasting food
I took 4 trays of food which is in my fridge which I don't know is safe to eat today
plus even if all 5 of us sit and eat solidly for an hour we still wouldn't finish it all and my manager MADE me take a box of 18 bottles of stella cos everyone brought their own drink and none of the stuff we'd bought had been drunk! I said I didn't want it but she kept on and on and then said that her husband was picking her up and would drop me home too so she put the beer in her boot and told me to keep it as a thank you for all my hard working helping her to organise and clear up :undecided what could I do or say apart from no?? She wasnt listening to me, I honestly must of said no about 5 times, I couldn't even say I didn't drink it as she'd watched me drink it all night! I've now got a, thankfully unopened, box of stella sat by the front door
That's all my news, nowt much happening here!
Off to make some lunch, speak to you all later  xxDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hello everyone and thanks for all the lovely good wishes.
It's only a low level temp job until end August working for a charity I've been volunteering with. It might go on longer, depends really. I start on 21st July and can keep my Monday volunteering going as well so that's me in an office again full time with 4/5 of the week paid actual money.
Had 3 'small' pub glasses of wine yesterday starting early afternoon so say 525ml of say 14% = 7.5 units. This calculator is quite handy, I probably found out about it on here so thank you to whoever it was! http://units.nhs.uk/unitCalculator.html
I know that is binge drinking but for me to remember the number of glasses on a day when I start in the afternoon is a minor miracle. And when I stopped all the adrenaline ebbed away and I was sooooo tired. I hadn't realised how much background stress I've had from not working.
I think on the days I do drink I will try to calculate and track the units for the rest of July and get some hard numbers down here. I tend to fluff over that part too often.
Have a good day all - I'm crossing my fingers for Jensen. Might go out for a walk rather than watch F1 qualifying on the sofa. Not sure.0 -

If one cannot be happy with alcohol, then that is someone who is unhappy full stop.
I hope that making the decision to be AF today brings you happiness, as it is strong, decisive action, and helps you regain control
so true.
apologies for my absence but I' doing my best to live life to the full and that does actually mean not going online as much as I used to!
IF I were to rewind 2 years I couldn't possibly have imagined that I'd have got to wher I am now...the road would have seemed too long and full of trouble, conflict and uncertainty.
And yet, day by day, things got better....
So...it's there if you want it. It boils down to acceptance of what you need to do to get where you want to go. ONE DAY AT A TIME.
I spent YEARS trying to defy the chemical reaction of alcohol with my body and trying to have both sides of the deal - the drink without any side effects.
After years of struggling I understand the deal that is in front of me and know with the certainty of truth that my actions have repercussions. I cannot change the rules and am now applying the mental process I used to change things around in the first place to make my life better elsewhere.
Good luck everyone...take care....
BisFor what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Oh yes, I'd almost forgotten about the boots, BB - you should definitely follow Jo's advice there!! And congratulations to your DS on his promotion - you must be so proud of your little boy. I hope my DDs grow up to be as sensible and hard-working. :T
Glad your 'do' went well, Jo. I hate the thought of all that food going to waste though:money:- I'm sure you will all enjoy the left-overs you brought home. The Stella can go in a cupboard until your next allowed non-AFD.
I'm planning to go to Glastonbury with DD2 after her GCSEs next year. We'll camp nearby - no way am I camping in that field, I need access to decent showers etc. Any tips from your OH, Jo, or anybody else got any info? I'm going to plan it early so as to get the best campsite booked.
Must go - DH and I are going to Manchester International Festival this pm, DD1 at Wakestock , DD2 out with friends, DD3 out and then on a sleepover. But despite the lack of DDs, I'm determined today must be AF.

Not got anything exciting to write about, just wondered where everyone had gone... Are you all at the same party you went to last night? and why don't you invite me.. I'm very nice you know...!!!
Jo, is there any chance you can lose/bin/re-home your stella bottles? Only if your anything like me, if its a drink I like in the house my wine bells keep on clanging.... when its not there, I can settle to soft/hot drinks.. Just an idea...I would offer to come and remove it for you, but I think you live a fair distance from me.. and I don't like beer....!:D
Hope the rest of you are behaving yourselves.. ish....xxAFD - J 19 J 11 A 2 S 10 Oct 6 N 0/?
