no bad news as such but am going to drop out of may challenge for all sorts of reasons,
WB, so sorry to hear that you won't be in it for May. I'll miss you. Take care and let us know how you are getting on. ETA Phew, you've been posting since then, glad you're not dropping off the thread, just the counting part.
I'm still on 1AF day so far. I got cheap tickets to a comedy thing in London last night and there were two free beer vouchers with them which just seemed too good not to use. OH stayed sober, which is unusual. Regretting it today because it was not a full on drinking evening, which is crazy thinking - I have not wasted my drinking day by having 3.5 units, it's still over the 2 - 3 recommended level!
I may not go out to any of the 3 pubs I've got different things at tonight as I'm not sure if I'm feeling strong enough to say no today if I'm in a pub. This is really making me realise how much stuff involves the pub for me though - I had 4 options for going out, which I can't afford anyway and the only one in someone's house is the one that isn't happening. Mind you then we take a bottle of wine each which goes quite easily through the evening.0 -

I've had this too, feeling worse on my sober days the next morning. All four of them last week. But I assumed my body just needed a bit more time to adjust itself as I was downing a bottle and a half of wine most days I figured it was the healing/payback process beginning to happen.
I certainly felt more muddle headed those mornings too. Wonder if it's also deeper sleep than my old coma-style passing out type sleep.
Now I'm nearly caught up with the thread again, welcome to Sparky and Nutty Tart. Nutty tart I am part way through the book but haven't got to the bit about the celery (assume it's something you don't like) in a wine glass. I ought to pick the book up again.0 -
PRICE_IS_RIGHT wrote: »Hi all
I'm afraid I've fallen off the wagon tonight. Sorry to be so depressing. Went to try to change some shoes with DD3, then got awful phone call from DD2 that she was having problems with her father(Mt PRI) about a tv programme she wanted to watch and he was being stubborn and nasty about letting her watch it. To cut a very long story short, I am now drinking wine. But at least I feel significantly less stressed:j
This is why alcohol is such a dangerous drug (to some of us). Something like a problem about who watches what on TV (which doesn't even involve us) can make us pick up a drink to anaesthetise.
Amazing the power of it0 -
Morning all,
Jo- hope you start to feel better soon! x x x
FB- what evil people you had living next door to you!! im glad your son is happy now! my little boy is just 8 months and i can't stand the thought of him being picked on when he goes to school let alone anything else it must have been awful for you.
Hi nuttytart and sparky!!
Well another AF day for me yesterday so that makes 6! I went for a really huge walk yesterday and bought myself a pair of shoes for the staff night out on 15th. im already feeling enormous pressure to drink and it hasn't even started yet. my friend is making cheeky vimtos at her house before we go out! I kept thinking perhaps the one night wont hurt but i know what im like and if i want to keep this new group of friends and be able to show my face i can't do it. One will lead to two which will lead to trouble. I'm sticking with my fake alcopop plan at the moment followed by diet coke while im out.
i tried to explain that i'm not very nice when im drunk but i don't think they believe me.
Any way plan for me today is to clean and do laundry. I've bought anthea turners perfect housewife book in the hope of changing every part of my life for the better starting with my slightly cluttered (pushes toys back under table with foot ahem) home.
I also plan on getting some berocca today and reading paul mckennas i can change your life!
AF day will be easy today it's tomorrow when we normally have pizza and beer that i will be needing 5L of diet coke!!!

I get the headaches and you'll probably remember me saying, frequently, after an AFD that I feel like I've been hit by a bus when I wake up. This though is preferable to feeling ill and hungoverDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

The Drink
I remember the Campari ads;
"drink this and have a great time",
"drink this and be beautiful",
"drink this if you need a rhyme".
The people in the adverts,
were always young and oh so bright,
slim, exciting and attractive,
their clothes seemed to fit just right.
But where are they now ?
I bet they're drinking even more,
because there's plenty the ads didn't say,
I think I should even up the score:
Because The Drink is a dreadful thing,
it will make you obese and make you fat,
and the more that you drink, the more you will drink,
it's addictive, it's as simple as that.
And what is that snow in your hair?
I bet you love those little white flakes.
Want to get rid of your dandruff?
Staying off the grog is all that it takes.
I know they wheel out their tame doctors,
"drink two glasses of red wine every day".
Ever wondered who sponsors their research,
ever wondered how they get their pay?
Watch out for that lunchtime drink,
it will take your sweet breath away,
and when you've had one too many,
it's so very hard (hic) to have your say.
The Drink definitely improves your athleticism,
you think you're twice as good as you are,
there are times you can beat a speeding bullet,
but watch out for that falling star.
What a really stupid saying:
"Let's have one more for the road",
take a life when you've been drinking,
and you'll never repay what is owed.
Drink makes you fall over,
it's staggering the effect that it has,
you simply lose your sense of balance,
(and your chic, your style and your pizzazz).
So, please raise your glasses,
and find a new circle of friends,
because if you're not that careful,
the gutter is where your journey ends.
And the seeds of greatness,
don't grow in the bottom of a vodka glass,
so let's think to your glorious future,
and not drink to the glories of your past.Embrace your inner Hillbilly
