I have just had a serious blonde/senior moment, was reading annberlins post and when she said 'her part of the world' I looked at here info and noticed she lives in berlin....sooooo ann berlin....Now for some reason I had been thinking something entirely different 'ann boleyn' as in Henry viii wife....:rotfl::rotfl: probably not funny to anyone else one bit, but I can't believe I was thinking it all day and nearly put a comment something like I might call you Jane Seymour or something
:o
Am going for a meeting on Tuesday at Age Concern to see if I can get a few hours volutary there working with people with early dementia (they have been looking for people) but think they might keep me in!!!
I still have my head but only just. :rotfl:Could not sleep last night tossed and turned untill about 3am and then succummed to 3 glasses of wine.I feel dreadful this morning but I am determined that today will be AF.Thanks everyone for your support0 -
Morning all
Gotta be quick myself, really need to get out a bit earlier, or at least on time today.
Getting used to this AF lark, though still get fleeting drink thoughts on my journey home then as soon as I get in. The bells are not as loud normally, but if they do toll loud then I have more ammunition in the way of days under my belt to quash them! Evenings are long long long, literally about 3 hours longer than they were before and I'm having trouble filling it with stuff, I'm getting bored quite easiily. I've not been well enough to go chopping out in the garden which is a shame as everything I've been chopping over the past few weeks is reappearing again
Plus Maman's comment last night made me think.....as I said I only drink beer, nothing else in the house bothers me. But, I do love a G&T on occassion, and it literally would be an ocassion plus I only drink it outside of the the house, I've never bought a bottle of gin before. I probably only have one once a year but I really enjoy it and fancy it. Last time I had one was when I went to Claridges last year for dinner and it was in the most decadent surroundings, in a tall glass with a slice of lime, ice and a stirrer and it was delicious. I only had the one cos we had limited money and just with the one drink the meal came to £200 between us (we were treating ourselves). But I shall miss that one ocassion every so often. Would it be too dangerous to consider allowing myself to have that one special G&T ocassion on the condition that I leave it to special ocassions only?
I hope everyone has a lovely day, it's gonna be a busy one for me, I'm looking forward to tomorrow as OH is going out and I've got the remote control and an early night planned!!
Gotta get ready for work, mustn't be late today, they're holding interviews and I've gotta help sort the candidates out

yes
well done! :T
Oh....umm....thanks :undecided
Ann, sleeping is notoriously hard on the first week of being AF, when you drink you aren't getting proper sleep, it's actually very disturbed but when you don't drink then it's easy to lay awake a bit longer plus have some vivid dreams. It does settle down after a few days and it is worth perservering with. Good luck for today, sorry to hear you feel carp....stick with us girl, you'll be fine

I noticed the vivid dreams too, and I remember them now in the morning in real detail. One thing I do notice is that 5 hrs of AF sleep is more restorative than 12 hrs of drunk sleep. I still don't sleep very well, but I don't panic about it now. Anyone got any top tips for sober insomniacs?
Hope everyone is OK today- sorry if people thought the thread has been a bit heavy of late- reflects the ups and downs of people who are struggling to manage alcohol I suppose, but hopefully the good weather this weekend will brighten us all up.
PS Budgie- FI's in a bit of pickle this morning, hope it doesn't detract from the race this weekend!!!!0 -
Morning All,
Jo, you asked "Would it be too dangerous to consider allowing myself to have that one special G&T ocassion on the condition that I leave it to special ocassions only?" I think you know the answer to this one already.
The decision is of course yours, but I'd answer your question with a very clear "Yes". I think you've done well and it's taken a while for you to get to where you are now. Why would you want to risk it?
As has been said before, alchohol is cunning, baffling and powerful for some people. I would suggest from what you have written about yourself on here that this is true for you? Personally I wouldn't take the risk if I stood in your shoes. You could always just have the tonic, ice and slice instead?0 -
PHEW....got in last night from work and NO internet.....nearly had to have a drink:D:rotfl::rotfl::D
