Posting from the phone so one long paragraph and no smilies. Fay, why would you put wine in the oven (wish i could quote your message so you know what im talking about!). GC, great to have you back, you've missed so much! x Thanks to all for the well wishes for tomorrow xxx 40SM, bung me down for 2 please me dear, very touch and go tonight with another sitting in the car outside the offy arguing with myself scenario, must've looked quite odd! But i talked myself out of it again and attacked the garden again, and saved a lil frog to boot, he was being bullied by next doors cats, so i took him and DS over the woods and put him in the reeds by the lake (the frog that is!)
night all, congrats for all the AF'ness

I've been following the Scarsdale diet from the 60's. Give me another couple of weeks to see what happens after I go back to carbs as I can't really recommend it yet. The downsides are that it's a bit faddy, restrictive and I have been feeling hungry and lacking energy. And you eat 1/2 grapefruit and a piece of dry toast for brekky which is uninspiring. The upside is that you have little or no choices to make so it takes my wants and likes about food as comfort and becomes more about eating for fuel. Plus while I am hungry and missing food the alcohol is easier to do without! Will report back after I have come off this two week intense phase and gone to his Keep Trim eating. http://lowcarblisa.tripod.com/id18.html
Had very emotional, sad and scary dreams last night, but now can't remember what they were.
I have been reading Addiction and Recovery for Dummies and it includes the concept of triggers.
Some of my external triggers are: Time-related eg evenings, weekends, bank holidays when the wine bells are clanging. Places: Walking past a pub or off licence, meeting people in the pub. TV- someone drinking something that looks nice. Eating (a nice glass of wine would go well with this...)
My Internal triggers seem to be emotionally based: Low emotions eg I've had a bad day, feel sorry for myself... Happy emotions: Something to celebrate, let's have a drink... Pretty much any emotion really. Will think about these some more.
There are quite a few situations that I'm used to drinking and have triggers associated. I can and have managed to get through pub evenings on diet coke or soft drinks and know it's possible but you always know it's a higher risk evening.
The book suggests keeping track of how often in one day you're exposed to triggers from people trying to sell things to you.
There was a section on combination triggers which I'm not sure I understand when your internal triggers quietly drive you to greater risk, as if by accident. It's 'below your radar screen' but your internal triggers quietly drive you in the direction of greater risk.(p102 - will return to it and have another think on how this affects me.)
I found it useful to see triggers as a separate bigger category so thought others might too.
