Thank you so much everyone for your words of pure wisdom things that seem so obvious but i have never really seen things that way before. I don't smoke and sober i would never ever bat an eyelid to an offer. For some reason however when i drink i do the opposite of everything i do in "real life" and have been told that i sometimes smoke when i drink. funny thing is i don't even know how to smoke haha!

I love the words alcohol is an evil drug because in all honesty i've always seen me as this secret bad person that alcohol brings out but those words make me see it's not that way.

Everyone here is very honest and supportive you're all doing fanastically also.

I've decided that on our staff night out on 15th may i will take a bottle of non alcoholic pop like schloer in a alco pop bottle to drink whilst getting ready with the girls and use the it's vodka and coke trick in the club when i will drink coke.

My other half is backing me completly and I have stopped drinking in the past i don't know why i started again.

few long post sorry to hog the board two straight days at work now 12 hours each shift then 5 days with my beautiful little boy. Beer guilt feeling is slowly decreasing i think this is the longest it has lasted. No alcohol situations to face so just concentrating on forgetting wednesday and erasing it from my mind other than the feeling of despising alcohol.

Kellylea, you are not hogging the board (that's me ;)), try and play it that way on 15th, you will probably enjoy yourself just as much at the time then not have the dark days afterwards either, it's an all win situation!!

I also do the opposite of everything I would normally do in real life, that's me, I love to self-sabotage and will do everything possible to make myself unhappy, don't know why? Getting to grips with changing that now though....taken 16 years to get to this stage, my drink problem started at 21, please don't leave it this long. Enjoy your little boy without guilt from your 'other' life :)

Hi Jo that sounds just like me. I have sabotaged my relationship on a number of benders and honestly i have the most perfect man and perfect baby so why i would do that is beyond me. I spend the entire week after telling him i love him every minute of the day and he has no idea why.

I know that i have no control over alcohol i don't know if it's a genetic thing my mom drinks way too much and my nan accidently died from an overdose of drink and anti depressants. My grandad is sitting in a chair drinking whisky all the time because he's had so many strokes he's disabled. I am lucky to have support from people like you and my other half now at this young niaeve age to sort it out.

Kellylea, you are not necessarily young and nieve, realisation that you are not compatible with alcohol can come at any age, sometimes the realisation never comes. It's just, for me, seeing you at 22 worrying about it already and I was 21 and didn't have these worries until I was around 30, you have time to stop it in it's tracks and turn it around :) stick around and get support and advice. x

Lurks, I had to groan at that one (but will use it later ;))

    xx

    AA Step 1

We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable.
