Cripes, just noticed at the top of the page that this thread has been viewed over 18600 times!!! I think we can safely say there are a lot of lurkers out there........everyone welcome.
It's kind of odd knowing how many there are reading our wafflings, I'm not going to think about them all as I type otherwise I'd feel I should put something intelligent or useful down instead of this babble!
The surfing the urge stuff is very interesting. And I find toothpaste works for me too. I cleaned my teeth before going to the cinema as in the past I would have had a wine or two to take in to the film but when we got to the cinema they'd taken the bar away completely so that's one safe place to go. Although there are lots of pubs between here and there.
Another AF day for me so up to 6/12. Half way to my May target. I expect to be on the naughty bench today, but will try not to get too comfy and come of it again tomorrow. Might not post until Friday now. Have a good day everyone.0 -

Thanks FB, i am a happy bunny. Im kinda hoping that i will notice a difference next week with my weight loss as a result of not drinking so much, but reading some posts on here suggests that you can put weight on when you stop drinking!! That didnt figure in my plan, oh well will just have to see how i get on.

Hi everyone
6 AFD for me now.
Yesterday was a hectic one, with training and then college so didn't get home til 10.
Tuesdays after college have always been a wine night and I did start to crave a glass or two mid way through the session - especially as I got my grade for coursework and got an A so wanted to celebrate. Was put off slightly though by the girl I sit next to being drunk and me getting a headache of her fumes.
Loads to do tonight and I might even be getting the exercise bug as I am looking forward to going for a jog tonight:eek:
Welcome to all the newcomers and good work to everyone else.

Morning all!
Had a bit of a penny dropping moment this morning while making breakfast!
One thing I have found since stopping the booze is in addition to extreme tiredness I've actually been feeling quite down, frustrated and generally fed up. This has been a difficult side of it to deal with as on the other side of it I'm really pleased with myself for doing over a month AF now.
I think I may know what it is - I'm missing the escapism alcohol brought me from the stresses of everyday life - and the biggest escapism I think was from myself! It's not that I dislike myself intensly or anything, just that I often annoy myself with how I sometimes deal with life. I guess I have to use this alcohol free time to address these issues as what I've previously been doing is blotting it out - albeit for a few hours. Now I'm choosing not to do this with booze the frustrations are building up.
Has anyone else found this and had a bit of depression after giving up? Thinking it may help to have some counselling. I should probably start listening to all those meditation type CDs I've amassed over the years too!
I guess it's like having a mirror held up to me - just that the mirror used to be be a fogged up one with the alcohol and now it's a full HD close up one it's all a bit scary!
Would be interesting to hear from anyone who's knocked booze on the head for a while as to whether they had similar feelings and if anyone has found something to help.
Cheers all.0 -
I am feeling p***ed off today. I have gained half a stone since stopping drinking. I am seriously tempted to have a drink tonight now.
I think it's good that lots of lurkers are viewing this, it does show that a lot of people are thinking about their drinking habits.
I hope everyone is better than me today.:AHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
