Oh well, the rain beat me, had to stop gardening.

Just taken my kudzu and 5 HTP so we will see how that goes.

Graheme - I struggle with the notion of alcoholism being a disease process. I can get the pre-disposition part of it, my dad died from it aged 54. I have run AA meetings in the past so i should "get it" I just don't. Why is that? I accept the "Alcoholics drink like alcoholics and normal drinkers....." but, the disease part? I just don't know.

Thumbs up to you all, we have lived to fight another day .

    How u managing Jo?

I don't know how my name continues to get misspelled by everyone, but I just have to accept it :D:D I am not going to drink over it, that's for sure

I think of it as an illness, I know many think of it as an allergy (their bodies reacts with alcohol inside them), and some a disease (that you are born with or develop)

All I know is that I am an alcoholic, if I do drink, alcohol makes me the person I am not.
I do not have to drink today, and that is great.
Accepting you are alcoholic is the main thing, whether you accept the disease theory is not such an issue

Hi all- hope you are all well? Everyone seems up for it at the moment -keep going guys.

Re: the tiredness thing, I remember feeling really tired, and found Vitamin B complex and a good multivit, plus lots of healthy food (by day three I could usually start to stomach something) picked me up. I think for me, prior to giving up I had been so stressed, panicky and anxious and had been running on empty for so long and relying on the alcohol sugar rush for instant energy, that when I finally stopped my body relaxed, and I felt calm again, but also incredibly tired as all the pent up tension faded away over time. Sleep still is a problem, but I don't panic about that now cause the sleep I do get is better quality and I seem to need less, and I reason that if my body needs it it will happen and adjust itself.

Fay hope the meeting went well for you- why don't you think about changing your supervisor, I always found my second supervisor to be far more supportive, as I don't think my supervisor was really interested in what I was doing and he didn't hide it well!!!!

    Jo- you OK?

BHB- blimey, is it over 40 days for you already? Well done mate.

Good to see so many old and new people still posting (wheres Bis?)- good luck everyone.

Oh noooo, sorry Graeme. That was very remiss of me. Thankyou for your reply, I will ponder upon it.

BUDGIE-- I have told my bro about this forum but i think he would die rather than talk to others about the "issue" ( we dont want to say "problem" ) I know and his wife knows and he doing well, kept at it much longer than i have and he has lots of difficulties in his life which would tempt anyone to turn to drink. I have an easy life and still feel the urge.

I was interested to read the posts about "surfing the urge". I an relate to that.

How DO you keep score of everyone Budgie? It's very good of you. You must be banking lots of good karma.

Night night everyone. See you on the other side

Hi Budgie - 9 AF days for me please. If I can stay strong tomorrow that'll be target hit. And a jumpie hopefully (sweet dreams are made of this - oh god now I've started a Eurythmics thing..!).

    xx

PS Can I get a jumpie for being able to spell Eurythmics??

    hello,
I've given in to temptation, I resisted for hours then legged it to the shop for a bottle of wine, I even tried reading loads of posts, tidying the kitchen, concentrating on the added calories, it didn't work, i bought a bottle of wine so now its concentrating on moderation.
I've passed part of my course:j and like in previous posts i drink when i'm celebrating, drink when i'm commiserating, drink, cause i can! But i don't feel like beating myself up yet.
