    Vikki, I bought the Little stationary box for 50.p at a car boot, then gave it a lick of paint and decoupaged the interior with CK napkins. I have seen a few about at car boots.

    Anguk and gingababe, I've pm'd you both, thanks!
    :jthanks vikki, have ordered

    i think i may need shabby chic-ers of MSE to unite here
    having major work done in the house, building/knocking down walls/extension etc
    plan is to have a hooge live in kitchen at the end

    so i have been collecting lots of lovely items in anticipation of my lush new shabby chic meets country kitchen type room, lovely enamel baths & enamel accessories, cakes with cath kidston wrappers (fake of course but look lush) to display n a cake dome, 2 BIG dressers, a lovely wall cupboard, ordered wood work surfaces, oh you all get the picture
    the prep work has been going on so long that i have had plenty time to shop and re vamp things, they are almost finished, ready to be put in place as soon as work has finished

    and now, over the weekend, the rest of the household have decided it would be so much more fun to have an american diner:eek:
    and not only that, in place of my lovely seating area, for which i have bought oodles of material to make a quilt & millions of lush shabby chic cushions, OH & son, have bought, wait for it, a lazy boy sofa:eek:

    i love the idea of an american diner
    just not in place of MY vision:(

    Does hubby not realise how much time and money has gone into the bits you've already got?! How about making it more of a retro shabby chic by mixing diner bits with what you've already got. For example enamel diner style signs would perhaps mix well? I'd be fuming if I'd put all that energy and effort in :( why don't you threaten to make floral slipcovers for the lazyboy? :p

    Just a quick question re: covering furniture in Cath Kidston paper. I know a lot of ebay sellers use wallpaper, but I keep spotting other designs and wondered if anyone knew what they were using? I'd imagine napkins would wrinkle when glue onto furniture? There's an example here...the paper looks really flat.

    Thanks!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Grounds for divorce, surely (kids as well as husband)!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Seriously though, as you will be the person spending most time in the kitchen, surely you should have the final say in how it is decorated. Also, on a practical note, the money has been spent on the shabby chic stuff. I would *hate* an American diner too, so totally sympathise. They would probably hate it too after the novelty had worn off!!

    Hopefully you can convince hubby to leave it as it is. As for the kids, sorry if this sounds old fashioned but they're not paying for it so they don't really get to decide!!!!!! Tell them that, when they have their own houses, they can do what they like! I am so annoyed for you, sorry if any of the above sounds harsh on your family! ((((hugs)))) to you.

    Bibittybob, can you PM me your blog address too? Thanks xo
