ok quick q for all you wonderful ladies. the dresser i bought has a weird smell , like musty stale smell. i've given it a really good clean and it has come up a treat but i cant shift the smell . is there anything i could get like a air fresher type thing i could put inside to help it smell better. also the drawer bottoms are stained. i remember when i was little my nan having like smelling wrapping paper in the bottom of her drawers. can u still buy it and does would it be ok in a dresser ?
A pile of old newspapers ...seriously! I was told this tip after DS was sick in the car. Something in the newsprint absorbs the smell. I always place unwrapped bars of soap in drawers, gives a nice smell and means they last longer once they've dried out!:)

I've also made "lavender bags" using grated scented soap, work a treat and the smell lasts for ages, much longer than lavender.
Oh dear, here we go again.

jenny - i like that idea of the grated soap in the lavender bags. I was planning on making some this weekend, might try this idea. Thanks.

Oooh hermum, those are lovely! Although rather annoyingly I like the blue in the photo.

I bought this little table at the car boot on Sunday and here it is almost finished. I've ordered a little pink cut glass knob off ebay to replace the old metal one so will replace it as soon as that arrives (this morning, hopefully!).

I've got it in my hallway at the moment ('in situ' photo here) but it's looking a little bit lost. Hopefully when I move house there'll be room for it somewhere!

    I also like the blue.
I love love love your hallway & the table.
I'm just starting to collect old mirrors to put in my stairwell & borrow light from the large landing window. I hope mine looks as good as yours, now you've teased me with just that little glimpse, I would like you please to run around your house taking photos of it all, as I think I want to live in it.:D
Anyone near Cresswell, I don't have a clue where it is other than 235 miles from me, just found this on ebay

    I love those chemist drawers.

OOOOh I am so excited I've just found your blog through your pics, your "about me" is like me, I fall in love zillions of time a day though. I even had to kiss my courgette seedlings when they came through because they were so cute.
I am going to have to come back to this later as I have shed loads of stuff to do.

    Hey everyone,
The word of the last few days seems to have been Bureaux and I've just found this one on ebay....

It's only got an hour left and is currently at a fiver
Unfortunately it's in Newcastle-upon-tynne which is WAY too far for me to travel, but someone else might be able to benefit from it. I've never actually Shabby Chic'ed anything so I don't know if it's a good one or not but figure if it's only a fiver then maybe it's worth a gamble!
Also, the new TKMaxx in Liverpool has loads of Shabby Chic things in including some flasks by a company actually called Shabby Chic!

Just started cashback-ing - makes me feel less guilty when I impulse buy!

I never even knew this thread existed!!! Hello everyone, i'm a big fan of shabby chic/ cath kidston and we are renovating our first home and I intend on having a very shabby chic dining room and kitchen. Here are a few pics of what I have got so far

A cluttered cupboard soon to be decluttered, shabbied up using CK wallpaper

£17.80 Teak dining table With 6 chairs

Currently sanded down and had their first coat

I'll be recovering the seat pads with some CK-esque material. I am an avid crafter so i'll be filling the room with handmade chic :D

Now to catch up on the two shabby chic threads!!!

wow that table looks fab & would be great in our kitchen, can I ask where u got it from ??
I have been searching on ebay but I haven't found anything yet! Also I am looking for an armoire for my daughters bedroom! I am in the west mids, does anyone know off anywhere I could get stumble across great finds???

    Many thanks
