Tiff - how long did it take to revamp that gorgeous dresser of yours? I bought one (not half as nice btw) last year at a furniture auction and it deserves a bit of a spruce up this year to get rid of it's current nasty dark-yuck finish.
I have also started to collect Emma Bridgewater and bought the dresser to display my collection. I originally thought to paint the dresser cream but as most of the pottery is cream too it might not show it off enough. Has anybody got any ideas for an alternative colour? I like French grey but it might look cold in my kitchen.I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.

I think it was a couple of months. My Step Dad took the top half away first and worked on it in his spare time in his friends garage. He does things thoroughly so spent a lot of time on sanding it back, then several coats of undercoat and a couple of top coats I think.
A pale grey or green might be nice for your dresser?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Has anyone used ESP instead of rubbing & sanding?
I keep reading about it, as the dresser i have has detail in the doors i am not looking forward to sanding, it says you can even use it on glass, melamine & tiles, and it wont chip even on those
It seems a bit too good to be true, but gets great reviews
it would save weeks of work though0 -

after seeing the gorgeous patchwork square my mil has bought i have decided i wanna give it a whirl. but i'd like to make some cushions from them. Does anyone know of a really easy step by step guide i could follow or look at. All the ones i've seen so far have been for fancy patchwork. i am the sort of person who will give anything ago but wanna read up on it first to see how many squares i'd need for a cushion etc and any other bits needed.
My lounge is a deep plum/amethyst colour, with magnolia walls, and natural wood work so i can really add some extra splash of colour and make it look more lush. Not quite shabby chic but a twist on it,lol.0 -

I was going to use it for my kitchen cabinets but decided to go a little darker and bought Crown Flagon period eggshell paint instead.

I want a dresser! I actually just want my own house so I can set about making it into a shabby chic haven. Our house looks good with all my bits but we can't make permanent changes which is a bummer. Although the LL is really lovely so if I asked nicely he might put up some new shelves to display my wares lol. But I would so buy a dresser to restore if I could find one cheap.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I've just realised - CS is charity shop isn't it?! I've been racking my brains for days as to what it could stand for and that's the conclusion I've come to. I'm just off to town now and am hoping that by looking on here I'll stay strong and not buy lots of things I can't afford - keep me strong peeps!!!
xxxJust started cashback-ing - makes me feel less guilty when I impulse buy!0 -
The only way I've found to keep me on the straight and narrow is to take just enough cash to buy exactly what I need and leave all the plastic at home. Sometimes it means leaving a few supermarket bargains on the shelves but needs must0
