There are some fantastic photos of reconditioned furniture done by posters and their families on the "Shabby Chic" thread. Someone on there has the most beautifully painted welsh dresser. SO envious0

Old pine furniture painted looks fantastic
Renovating old furniture
I have a feeling there is another big relevant thread, but I can't quite think at the moment ! In what frugal find came your way today, people have discussed and showed pics of some revamp projects as well.

Many thnaks for those links, i love some of the stuff on there, but as i'm a 30 yo man i think i'll stay away from the quilting and making handbags lol. Im really primarily interested in furniture whether just paining it up or adapting it to other uses.A penny saved is a penny earned.

I have renovated severa pieces of furniture. I have a gorgeous oak dresser in my kitchen, with the big flat surface sanded and oiled, and the rest painted in a lovely creamy farrow and ball oil-based eggshell. Cost around £45 on ebay plus around £35 for the materials and I love it more than ones I've seen for £700 in Laura Ashley.
I have a few pieces from freecycle (chest of drawers, nest of tables) also natural oiled/painted in cream.
A pine and rush rocking chair £5 at a boot sale + leftover farrow and ball paint for the frame. A couple of oak Victorian gents valet stands, £3 each, aslo sanded and painted and the cufflink tray lined in a Laura Askley fabric to make them more girly.
I'm working on a 1920s oak writing bureau at the moment £25 on ebay and I'm just removing the varnish and oiling it to keep it natural. I love my makeover furniture much more than the stuff I used to buy at very high prices on the high street!0 -
that all sounds loverly, i would love to see some photo's of the items you have done up, i'm just working out how i can add photos of the things i've done on here.
I think it makes the furniture so much more personal, i hate seeing mass produced furniture, and everyone having all the same thingsA penny saved is a penny earned.

Upload them in photobucket (or equivalent). When typing in here, click advanced , then click the little icon that looks like a postcard to me - when you hover over it it says "insert image". Past the direct link of the pic in and click ok. If you have the pics too large it will stretch the whole page so do bear that in mind pleaseA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
