I was going to use it for my kitchen cabinets but decided to go a little darker and bought Crown Flagon period eggshell paint instead.

I like Flagon - it's darker than I would have looked at initially but know you've got me thinking that a darker colour might look good too - I've always opted for pale colours in the past. Thanks!

oo love that dresser tiff...maybe he could do some up and sell them? The finish is lovely. Not much done here of late as no much space but plan to get a freecycle table and chairs when lodger moves out...

I saw a nice dresser with makeover potential in Oxfam yesterday and thought 'ooh, a project'... but it was £145. :( Why is Oxfam so overpriced???

  • Hi guys, i'm interested to know if any of you update your furnature and how you do it, i personall buy second hand solid wood furniture, mostly pine but other wood if i can afford it, i then sand it down and paint and varnish it.

So Far i have Tidied up 2 small sets of drawers and a book case in pink with butterfly transfers for my daughters bedroom and a chest of drawers in blue with nautical transfers for my son's bedroom.

I am planning on updating 2 sets of drawers and a bedside table for my bedroom in ivory, i have a part tin of matt and a part tin of gloss in the same colour so i intend doing a paint affect on the tops of these to make them stand out slightly.

I use left over paint, which i pinch from family i buy cheap transfers from the range and from the works and i never spend a fortune on the furniture itself, often finding them at car boots and secondhand shops.
A penny saved is a penny earned.
The less you spend the more you have.
