Sorry about the lighting, its a bit dark here today. This is the 80's pine dresser I bought from a charity warehouse for £85. My Step Dad painted it with Laura Ashley paint and stained the top of the dresser base. I'm really pleased with it!

  • Wow that furniture you have done up is fab, You would proably pay a fortune for that in the shops!! It must be nice to be so talented and arty. I am very envious

my dining room furniture is old 1970's MFI - i got given it when i bought my house and was in no position to refuse as i could not afford anything more up to date. as my house is quite open plan and i have a deep red sofas in the living room, the sunset orange leatherette on the chairs was at odds with everything else! i found some fabric that matched the sofas in the range and after returning with a removed sofa seat cover to check the colour i purchased £10 worth. my mum and myself spent the next 3 sunday afternoons taking the chairs apart and reupholstering 2 at a time - it too a couple of hours each chair- but the finish was well worth it. i have updated the chairs and given the furniture a new lease of life all for a tenner and a bit of hard work... so much more satisfying than throwing a grand at a furniture shop to update the dining room!!

Well I'm afraid I'm nowhere near as patient and creative as former posters!

I have prettified the top of an old bedside cabinet with a freebie sample (from B&Q.......I did ask!) of a gorgeous Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen wallpaper (meaning the paper's gorgeous, that is:p) topped with a square of glass.

I've also covered the marked top of a small table with a circle of mirrored glass and use it to display perfumes etc. It reflects the light in an otherwise dark corner.

    how far is too far?

i make lots of my own pickles/james/chutneys & relishes etc
yesterday i saw lush red & white polka dot lids
i bought them to replace the (nice but shiney) gold ones i currently use

these jars are stored away in a cold dark pantry

but i know they are there:j:D
  • Ooh where did you get the lids from midnight? My Mum would love these for her jam making exploits.
I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.
