Hi, I've been trying to search the thread but am not coming up with anything. Where do you start when painting furniture made from laminate? Do you need a primer? What's the best kind of paint. Sorry if this has been discussed a million times, but I haven't a clue:beer:0

Dont know all the answers hun but I know ESP will work - I have just ordered some and am waiting to get started - think it stands for easy surface primer - no sanding involved too which is a bonus - can use it on practically any surface I think - certainly works on melamine0

This is what I have been using -

A 1 litre tin in B&Q is about £12
It does the job OK but it dries super fast and can be tricky if you do something fiddly.
I have heard great things about ESP wich just wipes on, so am going to try that next.
You could also use melamine paint - International do it or kitchen cupboard paint - both would be OK without a primer but your colour choice and finish would be very restricted.
Whatever you use give it a really good wash down first to get any grease off.0 -

I had an epiphany regarding my strawberry fabric last night and have just turned one fq into...........
..........drum roll please.............
a bread basket!!
I didn't use wadding but I found some stiffening vilene (oo er missus!) in my box so I used it on the strawberry fabric. The gingham is LA scarlet gingham left over from my kitchen blinds.
I like it so much I might make my mum one in bibi and heath green gingham for her birthday on friday (I made her a peg bag in those fabrics a while ago).
Love it love it :j0 -
