Have you got a walking foot for your machine?
I would love to do something like that but my machine is not worth spending the cost of a walking foot, so I'm going to wait until I get a better one.:cool:
Nope, just some steady work with my hands feeding it through - it's not perfect, but it works. I have this machine (c&P link as I've turned off the parsing thing
)

I've had it just over a year and I have so far used the straight and zigzag stitches on it :rotfl:"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

That machine looks great!
Did you drop the feed dogs or was the quilt not that thick?
Jack of all trades ... Master of none

The quilt wasn't very thick - I only used 2oz polyester wadding so it was a bit bouncy but squashable. I know absolutely nothing about quilting - I really did make it up as I went along!!
I had an epiphany regarding my strawberry fabric last night and have just turned one fq into...........
..........drum roll please.............
a bread basket!!
I didn't use wadding but I found some stiffening vilene (oo er missus!) in my box so I used it on the strawberry fabric. The gingham is LA scarlet gingham left over from my kitchen blinds.
I like it so much I might make my mum one in bibi and heath green gingham for her birthday on friday (I made her a peg bag in those fabrics a while ago)."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Love it! Just added to my list lol!0 -
Thank you - rather proud of myself today

I used this as a guide for the measurements and the proportion works really well:
http://www.ehow.com/how_6469461_make-french-fabric-bread-basket.html
Only took less than an hour start to finish as it's just basically straight lines all the way! I didn't bother over stitching the open side closed after I'd turned it the right way out, I just top stitched 1/4" from the edge all the way around instead of 1/2" to close it.
I *may* make a fabric covered square to sit in the bottom as it's not very sturdy - or I *may* try enclosing something strengthening in the bottom of the next one as I make it. Dunno yet
