Noticeboards are easy - Spray glue some wadding/batting to a piece of chipboard, cover with fabric and fix the way you would a chair seat - nice and tight, then use grosgrain ribbon and upholstery pins to make the criss cross and you're done - lots of pins are your friend for this part to keep them nice and tight :) I also cut a piece of calico to cover the staples and fabric edges at the back, folded over a hem and stapled that in place to make the back look neat.

Thank you for the kitchen compliments :)

This blog has better (!) instructions on how to make a notice board. She suggests using an old corkboard, which is an excellent idea as it would be easier to get the pins in and out than the chipboard - I'm not sure about using a canvas though - the pins would be too long to stick in it surely? Anyhoo, the linkie (cut and paste as parsing thingy turned off!)

DS is only 2 1/2 so I'm making the most of it while it lasts. I'm going to make him bunting too one day!

This is what I thought, DH only did our kitchen 3 years ago but he was pretty laid back about the whole thing. I was even more worried about suggesting me sell our downstairs furniture but again, easy.

If the shoe were on the other foot I'd have gone mad!

wow vicki thats fantastic. i would never of thought as the wardrobe was it could come up so nice. it has made me see them in a whole new light. older ones are so much more solid that newer ones. When we do the kids rooms. my dd needs a fairly slim wardrobe for her size rooms and the boys need a triple ( no space for drawers and wardrobe) i am now thinking i might be able to revamp and older style one.

Ah twinkles it was you I do love the unit. I was a little bit right in that Vikki used them too though, I'm still trying to find something to put behind my aneboda units. I'd like that kids green and white polka dot but it's £9 a roll and I just feel that as I only need 1 roll to do it all I should be able to get a bargain roll somewhere. I should keep an eye out for napkins too.

Here os my Tesco napkin covered box. It was a GWP with a No7 glitch a while back and already had the pink and the ribbon, just perfect for my button collection.

Sorry! In my excitement (the wadding came for the dogs blanket!) I completely forgot to say I love the button box vicki - brilliant idea! It looks absolutely perfect. And the wardrobe - I wish I could do things like that x

Right, dog blanket finished and I have learnt the following:
    • with practice, I could be quite good at quilting. I only quilted round the edges of the squares as this was the first time I had tried it. I may well try another one, slightly more difficult.
    • never EVER use satin binding. This is where I really messed it up as it kept slipping (even though I used sooooo many pins!). This is the reason there are no close up pictures - parts of the binding look like I sewed it whilst inebriated and I can assure you I am stone cold sober :D

Dog hasn't seen it yet as she is in the 'dog house' (boom boom!) as I made her a new cushion for her bed last night and she was sick on it overnight :(
