Oooo I've got some 'thinsulate' stuff in my stash when I had the urge to make an oven glove last year - the mood wore off before it arrived!! Excellent thinking - I shall add it to the ideas pile!

Thank you for my kitchen compliment - I lurrrve my kitchen!! It's not always that tidy though ;)

polly your kitchen is lovely! I like the kitchen roll holder where did you get that and did you shabby it up yourself? How about making a patchwork cushion or a peg bag or one of those bags for plastic carrier bags with the material. Would you be able to make a patchwork square with the gingham backing and put some kind of insulation in the middle and use it as a pan holder, something along those lines? Sorry my creative juices are a bit slow tonight.

Just been to Morrisons and decided to call into Focus to see if I could get a new staple gun. Managed to get one for £9.99 but while I was there I noticed that they had a Bosch universal cutter reduced from 31.99 to £23.99. Decided to treat myself to it as it said offer must end tonight. anyway, I also had a 15% discount card so when I got to the till they both came to £28.99. I was very pleased indeed. Still not been able to spray my ottoman because everytime I am at home long enough to start it the rain comes along PAH to rain. I am getting really itchy waiting to get started.

HAHA I took so long writing you both beat me to it. I did put the oven glove in there too.

Thank you too for kitchen compliment x

The red gingham bag hanging on the chair on the right is my peg bag - it's lined with LA fabric that matches the oilcloth on the table (anal? moi?!). I like the idea of a pan holder - I have one half made using the blue polka dot and red gingham somewhere which I should finish, but you can never have too many!

I think the kitchen roll holder was an ebay affair which has been shabbied through years of abuse! I shall try and find a linkie for you.

    EDIT: Link -

(Copy and paste link as parsing thingy turned off :) )

I'm lucky with powertools as OH is a trademan so I have access to some really good ones, but I try to flutter my eyelashes and get him to do it ;)

    Never works though :rotfl:

Thanks for the ideas - keep em coming :D

Polly - could you make some bunting with the red gingham for your shelves? Also is the tounge and groove in your kitchen real? The reason i ask is i love it, and my dad said you can get some mdf which already has the pattern and he'll glue it up with some no nails lol :D

PK i love ur kitchen. At the mo 'm trying to think of how i want to do my kitchen. Mine is a classic ivory shaker style with butcher block work tops. very light and very easy to turn into country style/ modern or S/C. But i am loving how you've mixed red gingham and pale blue polka dots. have to say i'm edging on going with the pale blue theme, but maybe having one wall wallpapered with CK style paper.

looking at other kitchen pictures really inspires me, so thank you so much.

It's called Easi-panel and it's really easy to shove up - see my kitchen for evidence ;)

Ok now I'm p*ssed off. I spent ages distressing the UJ and glazing over the top of it to get it looking nice and aged, and I got so excited and asked OH to come and have a look and he just pulled a face and asked if I'd finished it :( so I said yes, and he said 'really?!'.

Sometimes I don't know why I bother. I might just stick the bl**dy thing on ebay and buy myself some nice shoes with the money
huni thats fellas all over isnt it - we all think its fab and I bet he appreciates it really - albeit a bit deep down! Hugs hun

Thanks all. I do think it needs more of a sand now so after a great big sulk and an apology and hug I've decided he was right :o

Polly your kitchen is lovely, and I think we have the same scales :D some bunting would be lovely, or tea towels, oven gloves, carrier bag store or you could do an appliqued canvas for the wall?

ETA: Just because he was right doesn't excuse how rude he was and how cr*p he made me feel, and I do really appreciate all your encouragement :)
