Deborah, what about covering it in paper/tissue - I covered a little box that I keep my buttons in with some paper napkins and a bit of PVA glue, someone - maybe Princess Vikki? Covered a lovely bathroom unit in the same napkins too so it works on bigger things.

Indeed I did use lovely floral paper napkins to cover the transparent plastic fronts of my Ikea Aneboda bedroom drawers :) But I didnt have to use glue I cheated a bit and just sellotaped it onto come card and the onto the inside of the drawers! hehe ^_^ you cant tell though! :p

Thanks all. I do think it needs more of a sand now so after a great big sulk and an apology and hug I've decided he was right :o

Polly your kitchen is lovely, and I think we have the same scales :D some bunting would be lovely, or tea towels, oven gloves, carrier bag store or you could do an appliqued canvas for the wall?

ETA: Just because he was right doesn't excuse how rude he was and how cr*p he made me feel, and I do really appreciate all your encouragement :)

Glad you sorted it out. More glad to see that you are both starting off the living together really well by talking to each other when things are a bit sensitive. You are right just because he is right doesn't excuse how he made you feel. But it sounds like he is really aware of that so :T:T to you both for sorting it.

DH hates the chair . Now what the heck am I supposed to do with it? I love it, it's so comfy. It is bigger than I expected it to be but even so :(
Thanks for the freecycle suggestion. I really struggle with it. I never seem to be able to get in when I want to offer something or when I want to respond to a message. It's really blinking annoying. I have spent an age this evening hunting through ebay and have now given up and stuck a message on my facebook page to see if anyone knows of anyone who is getting rid of or selling one. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I looked in all of our local charity shops too. Blimey, the prices they charge for things now are astronomical. We've a new BHF warehouse type shop £90 for a bed .
While I'm on here, where's the cheapest place for fabric dye? Also, is it possible to lighten fabrics which have been dyed dark?
    Thanks guys :D
Bibbity, shame you've to redo it. What went wrong? I always worry about over sanding distressed stuff (in theory this is because I have nothing shabby chic in my home, I'm not allowed it).
Whoever said it earlier, PAH is a good word for summing up how I feel tonight. And a bit meh.
    Cheerio peeps.

Thank you.:) I was really concerned at first 'cos it didn't lie flat and there seemed to be air bubbles etc.But I put some clear matt varnish over the top to seal it and it straightened out a lot. There are still crinkles but it actually looks like I did it on purpose!lol.I am a massive perfectionist and thought I wanted it dead flat, but actually it adds to the charm. People who use my bathroom always comment on how pretty it is,which is lovely.

Ah twinkles it was you I do love the unit. I was a little bit right in that Vikki used them too though, I'm still trying to find something to put behind my aneboda units. I'd like that kids green and white polka dot but it's £9 a roll and I just feel that as I only need 1 roll to do it all I should be able to get a bargain roll somewhere. I should keep an eye out for napkins too.

Here os my Tesco napkin covered box. It was a GWP with a No7 glitch a while back and already had the pink and the ribbon, just perfect for my button collection.

Oooooh Vicki I like that, particularly the pink bow as it finishes it off beautifully!I covered a box too with the napkins but it is nowhere near as pretty. It's an old shoe box that I keep dd1s baby treasures in.:)

I need to give the sides one more coat of one coat gloss lol! But here is DS's wardrobe.

    Before:

    After:

I used the last of my BIN any surface primer which I applied with a sponge roller, then the blue was a clearance satinwood from Homebase which I did with a fluffy roller and I painted the sides with gloss and a brush - would have used the sponge roller but the BIN dries so quickly it was ruined.

I'm leaving the inside for now, might see if I can get some cheap wallpaper and do the back with that.
It's got little black metal enamel plates that say ties and scarfs and gloves inside, really strange, I've never seen that before.
