Oh you won't believe this!
My mum just came round and I proudly showed her my little box and she started howling with laughter.
When she finally got herself under control she said she had bought it for 20p in a jumble sale and donated it to the fete, and that she didn't think of offering it to me first because she didn't think it was my kind of thing.
She is now under strict instructions to give me first refusal on anything she thinks I probably won't like before giving it away.
It was obviously meant to come to me, and at least the charity has benefitted!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

I know this isnt the sewing thread but I feel more at home here.
Wanted to show you my bunting I made today for the baby, whenever it gets here.
You can also see the mirror I got for £8 at the car boot sale and painted, needs another coat but it was gold and looks much more lovely now.
Off to make a play mat for baby! I blame whoever posted the messages about Fabric Rehab on the sewing thread!!!:A0 -
That bunting looks lovely and the mirror is lush!(Exactly what I'm after actually:D)

Thanks Twinkles, mirror was a lucky find and a lucky price at the local car boot sale. Sometimes people ask £25 for them, sometimes they ask a few pounds, total pot luck. Difficult to paint with a paintbrush but it seems to have worked.
Baby is due in 3 weeks. Im totally obsessed with sewing and painting furniture - and looking for furniture to paint, bless! Pregnant mind.:A0 -
Not long now then!I was eight days early. My obssession was de cluttering (think skip outside, hubby was running rd nailing everything to the floor!ha ha)and cooking. In fact 2 hours before I gave birth I was cooking a roast chicken dinner (and eating it).Although saying that my in laws had to persuade me not to climb ladders to paint and clean windows too.Any luck with the chest of drawers yet? That was you wasn't it?:female:Our 2 gorgeous little girls born 2006 and 2010

No luck with drawers. Going to concentrate on looking at car boot sale tomorrow as its so nice to get things cheaply. Husband says its a crazy obsession and if I havent got one by the end of tommorrow he is going to ikea.
Hubby and I have both been decluttering like mad. I normally keep everything and wont let him chuck things but he is loving the fact I want to throw everything out.
My painting shelves obsession is popular as well as he is liking the fact we have places to put things now. I am getting seriously fed up of sanding though......:A0 -
jennyjelly wrote: »Hello ladies, I'm in need of inspiration! It doesn't normally happen to me but I've hit a complete blank on what do do with this little box I just bought at a fete for £1.50. To give you an idea of size, it's 7.5" to the top of the handle and 8" across the top end to end and 5" wide.
I'm thinking probably off white paint, re-line it with tiny flowery fabric & replace the tacky postcards with different but toning fabric. But somehow I just don't feel inspired. It's a lovely little box and I don't want to do it half-heartedly so come on girls, I need some amazing suggestions!
Saw something like this in TKMaxx in gardening section - whitewashed with sections for seeds and twine etc ? You could still use flowers and insects to decorate??:jPobodys Nerfect:j0 -

Such pretty bunting Jennie, and love the mirror, though I can imagine what a !!!! it was to paint - a spray would have been easier, just wish they weren't so blimmin expensive!
It was long time ago for me but I can still remember that burst of energy just before babies are born. It was frantic gardening for me with both of mine (May & September) so at least we had somewhere nice to sit when we came home!
Hope all goes well and you are not kept waiting too long in this heat, I remember how miserably uncomfortable I was.Oh dear, here we go again.0
