danemi, this is how I do mine, there is a bit of a knack!
Hold the end pf the upper thread (that is through the needle) in your left hand with light tension.
Slowly turn the wheel (on the right hand side of the machine) anticlockwise or towards you until the needle goes down
As it starts to come up again pull the thread in your left hand gently while continuing to turn the wheel.
You should see teh other thread pop through, I usually use something to poke it out under the foot.

I don't know if that is the way your machine works but it's worth a go! Good Luck x

I do it this way too. Hope this is not silly but are you leaving a fair length of thread from the spool. If not you will need to do this so that the needle can catch it. I leave mine hanging out of the compartment that houses the spool but with the compartment door shut. (If you leave it open it never seems to catch and sometimes the spool pops off its spindle). Then when the loop comes up as xxvickiexx explained I gently open the compartment door so the thread runs free when I pull the loop through. Good luck.

Wow this thread is so busy it's hard to keep up. Well done on all the lovely bargains and makeovers.

Found this great idea on an American blog I would never have thought to stick bits of wood onto a plain piece of furniture but it looks brilliant

That has to be one of the biggest transformations I've ever seen. Amazing!

Well the little bag and the bunting went down well. Cheap present as everything was already here in the house to make. The lad has a brother, who shares his bedroom so I said I would make another one for the brother.
The village hall is starting up a saturday market today. I just got email back from the organiser, and I can try to sell up to 20 items on their parish table. At a cost of 25p plus 10% of sales. So I think that I should be a bit more creative and get some things sorted out to do it, next week.!

Must be the time for DIY disasters Bibitybob, I sanded off my fingernail (just the tip) and got a nasty blood blister on my fingertip when I was sanding down the table top with the electric sander. Will wear gloves next time it hurt like hell. The table looks gorgeous though, I sanded the normal top down and just need to sand the extension bit in the middle now.

I'm finding paintng the chairs really fiddly though as the backs are quite intricate and the paint pools and then drips in the cutout parts grrr.

I have a feeling I am going to be very precious over this set when I'm done and nobody will be allowed to sit at it. It will be my ornamental table!

Oh also won a small cabinet/sideboard and a bargainous headboard for 99p that both need some SC magic, I'm going to be far to busy for housework for the next few weeks!

Ouch! I've managed to slice up the ends of my fingers using a bare blade to scrape glass off the cabinet glass today too, very sore :o the room's looking great though, just a few small bits to do and OH's Mum has to put all the stuff back in the dresser. Going back down later so will take some photos!
