    Argh!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Set my heart on the lovely dressing table in Emmaus which Tiff mentioned. Went down there first thing to try and get it, travelled in from the other side of bristol with toddler in tow, husband and two cars. They sold it last night at 5pm!!!!!!!

And to make matters worse, because it had been there for months they had just reduced it from £90 to £45!!!!

Think the dresser mentioned by Tiff has gone as well. The man there said someone went in last night and bought loads of things.

    Depressed!

Plus the nice ebay one sold while I was out for a fab price while I was out trying to get the dressing table!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

    Back to square one!

Oh no, so sorry jennie! I cant believe it was reduced by half. In future, give them a ring to see if the item is still available and they will reserve it for you for an hour or so, tilll you get there. I did that with my dresser because I had to go home and see if it was ok with DH before I bought it.

Thanks Tiff, I wasnt blaming you!! I should have bought the dressing table the first time I saw it. Plus it was a nice trip to go and have another look around.

The man there said they were trying to open a store in Barton Hill selling odds and ends which would be good.

Went to Bristol Reclamation in Southville which has lush stuff but everything is £150 plus and my lovely husband said that everything looked just like the things I have been painting at home so I just need to find one to paint myself!!

I know you werent blaming me lol. At least it might mean they move some new stock into the shop at St Phillips if someone bought a few things.

They said they their van picks up new stock twice a day so I could go back at lunch time and in the evening to look. They also said chest of drawers go straight away when they get them as everyone wants them. I always thought the closed off part of the shop had lots of things waiting to be moved into the main part of the shop but they said everything good that they have is out so they were just waiting for newly collected stuff to fill the gaps.

Well, I feel that I should start some kind of track of sorts on here as I hadn't been able to find the like a few months ago when I was looking for advice myself. (Any advice would be so welcome in my redecorations etc...)

....As I've found myself, rather by surprise, living on a narrowboat. “Narrow” being quite the operative word considering I’m used to a two bedroom house with a nice grassy garden !

    Hi MoneySaving Laura

Please start a blog about your Narrowboat activities!

Can I ask how you found the boat to rent?

    Thanks

Thanks for the lovely comments the other day regarding the curtains-put a smile on my face for a good day or two!
At the mo I'm leaving the dresser as it is but I am thinking of painting it with farrow and balls cornforth white which is a lightish grey.Trying to decide.:DApart from that the diningroom is nearly complete apart from a few finishing touches ie bunting and making some placemats.

Hello to all, hope your all well.I have been reading but have been too tired to post.I went with my daughter on an outing with her preschool last friday and while we both had a great time,I'm still zonked and falling asleep on the sofa most eves and morns-v unlikely me but the fibromyalgia is playing me up a bit me thinks.;)

Anyway keep posting scrummy photos as they cheer me up loads!

    Hi everyone :D
I dont know where the time is going just lately  I drop in every day to see what you all have been up to :D
I have managed to paint 2 more off-cuts of wood and put pine knobs on them for yet more coat hangers (will post a pic soon) I also finished 3 patchwork cushion covers to match my quilt I did a while back.
Im now in the process of cutting squares out of a large valance sheet I got from a CS ages ago ready for the next patchwork quilt. The sheet is a Ralph Lauren white cotton with a blue valance, it reminded me of the willow pattern plates ( I did put a pic on my place) and I thought it would make a wonderful quilt. if only I could get time to do it :rotfl:roll on summer hols :rotfl:
Keep up the great work and the pics comming as I love to see the changes you all make :T
Congrats Shirlgirl on getting the chairs for a fiver :T

When you use sheet or duvet cover material for patchwork does it not look a bit thin? I'd love to make one but abric is so expensive and I never seem to see anything nice in the CS.

Hi I luv this thread!!! Tackling a bedroom next week, moving youngest daughter 17 into older daughters bedroom as bigger. I did this room 4 years ago, built in cupboards painted pink, now want to do cream, is the Once paint the best, or a gloss for the doors. putting new cream carpet down, looking for a cheap offcut but want them to fit. trying to do it all on a budget , any advice on paint would be appreciated. Theres also an old stool in the room, the ones with like a rush top on in red, will this paint up?
