Come on Essex girls why aren't you bidding on those fireside chairs? I've only gone and bid on them and I'm winning! My OH will kill me if I win but I will be miffed if they go cheaper than the £25 I paid for the other tattier pair (unless one of us wins of course).

Well you're safe from me bidding. I don't have a fire and I'd have to get rid of my lovely leather 2 seater to fit them in, which I won't do :p

I've got one as well, there are metal corner bits hold a piece of glass on mine, not very "safe" I suppose. Your basket seems to have much taller metal bits - I wonder if they were added later?

The padded topped baskets that have lost the padding usually have a plain piece of plywood rather than the weaving. HTH

Hi, i have no idea! hahahaha:rotfl: it looks like it was supposed to have padding on top, but thinking about, why would they have bothered making it wickered on top if it were to be just covered?! good point - oh well, im going to go ahead with it, and put a pad/cushioning on top anyway as i think it will pretty - hoperfully! :rotfl:

Thanks cherisong that looks lovely, am now watching it. The ones I have seen like that tend to go for over £100 but you never know with eBay. why is it so tricky to find something so simple!?

    TY for welcomes :)

    The above went for £38!

I was thinking the same. I have a couple of laminate type bookshelves that I would like to paint (too tight to get rid). Has anyone tried it?

I think that if you paint laminate then you have to prime with that ESP

so that the paint "sticks". A friend of mine did the doors of their kitchen cabinets with it and it worked really well.

Thank you for all of your advice and tips on the table. I ended up going for Zinsser B.I.N. primer sealer. It says that you don't need to sand and it sticks to all surfaces, melamime, varnish, tiles, metal etc. It was only a few pounds more than the regular primers so I thought it would come in hand as I do have some cheap laminatate stuff to do also.
I've sanded the table anyway a little bit and put the primer on last night. I've done one coat of the LA Linen and the colour is perfect, the lady was right, it's much lighter than it looks in the brochure.

I put my big table and chairs, sideboard and coffee table on ebay yesterday and the sideboard and coffee table have already sold on BIN, I just hope the big table goes as it's that that I really need out of the way!

Good luck with the tables Vicki. My OH is going to shoot me. I won those chairs for £5! They're in better condition than the ones I paid £25 for. Why did I bid? :o

£5 for those chairs, how could you not? I'd love some like that but DH would go mad, we have no space and he already had a word with me last night about clearing out the old stuff before I go buying more!

I promised to put the highchair on ebay today so I'd better do that at least...
  • Hello, mind if I join in. I've been sorting out my new little home (since I left the ex) and am attempting to make it pretty on a budget. Projects ongoing (slowly going as I work full time plus studying for an OU degree) are making cushion covers from recycled material and today I bought two mirror from Oxfam. One is long and I am going to paint the frame, the other frame is brass and ornate and I'm going to attempt to use it to make a dresser (effect) from a cheap chest of drawers from Ikea

Looking forward to seeing your dresser, I'm on the look out for a couple of large ornate mirrors, don't mind if I have to paint them, so if you spot any bargains on your travels please let me know x

    Hiya :D Will do!

I have all these grand ideas, though it has taken me nearly two weeks just to sew one cushion cover :o Hopefully this thread will keep me going...
