we are moving house soon and we plan to paint the oak kitchen cupboards cream.
Was thinking of using Farrow and Ball for this project as the French Gray Farrow and Ball paint was really easy to apply.
Does anyone know what type of cream Farrow and Ball paint would be best to use on the kitchen oak cupboards????:)
I've just been introduced to the wonders of F&B paint whilst doing up a couple of old chairs. I bought a tester pot of emulsion in String and it went on lilke a dream, but it wasn't going to last long on a chair. I had to do the woodwork in the bathroom so I bought Dimity in eggshell to re-do the chair. It's odd as the Dimity looks an awful lot darker on the bathroom wood than it does on the chairs.
Both the chairs and the bathroom look fab though, the eggshell has a lovely finish.0 -
I have just bought a chair to go in my bedroom, I am wanting to sand it down and paint it cream can anyone reccomend a good paint and let me know roughly how much it costs? Also I am covering the seat will any fabric be ok or do I have to get something special?
As I've said in another post I used Farrow and Ball paint on my chairs, but the original fabric I covered the seat pad with was an old duvet cover! There's a pic somewhere on page 101 or 102. Must admit though, I pushed the boat out and bought some Cath kidston fabric i've had my eye on for a while to finally cover the seat pads.
I did however find out that you can buy half a meter of fabric at John Lewis, so it can work out cheaper than you may think of you want something posher.
I'll stick a pic up when I get a chance later.
Have fun transforming your chair!0 -
All you Shappy Chic upholsterers-which type of staple gun do you use as I'm going to invest in one and your recommendations would be appreciated?
Thankyou0 -

Frenchgirl wrote: »Hi everyone. I go away for the weekend and you all disappear!:rotfl: It may be the last time I go away to Bridport lol. I had a fantastic time with friends - I helped feed a young calf - may have to change my name to moo moo girl. I need your help and advice. To cut a long story short my soon to be ex husband is bringing around contents of our home now he has decided to sell the house.
There is a lot of the childrens art work and mother day cards etc. I dont want to throw them away especially as we lost our young daughter 4 yrs ago. I dont have a lot of room these days any idea how I can display them or keep them? Thank you for reading this far. I know its not exactly shabby chic but I feel amongst friends here. Love the photos. Glad we are back together. x:T:A
Do you have a computer (daft question as you post here) how about scanning them in to your computer and saving them as a file and then setting your screensaver to the file, then whenever you move away from the computer they will start to scroll through. Not exactly shabby chic but a way to have your angel with you.
Alternatively I would go with the 3d photo frame and hang it where you can be inspired.
I am sorry that you are having a difficult time, I am sure that you will enjoy what ever you decide to do. Happy planningSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons.
