I really enjoy lurking on here while I wait for motivation to kick in! Lovely thread.

Luxor, I have the matching table to your pink Lloyd Loom chair, used as a bedside table in my guest room. I also have a couple of chairs which are out in the shed at the moment all covered in cobwebs. They are originals but they have plastic upholstered seats and are very low. Anyone made over this type?

Excuse me being nosey Luxor but where are these super charity shops that have Lloyd loom and Laura Ashley? I was born in Swansea so know the area quite well.

Keep posting everyone, you are so clever all of you.

Eager: What a wnice table, ell done! sorry I didn't help with the Flickr thing, I was flying by the seat of my unmentionables myself as DS wasn't around to shout directions :o

Thanks Luxor - love your items, wow, it will take me a while to get anywhere near that sort of level!

The table is my first (and very basic) project so it gave me an idea of time it takes etc.
I do though have a beauty mirror and also a desk I would love to repaint - would you recommend simply sanding it down by hand and painting with a matt wood paint? I used that on the main table and seems ok for now but I wonder how long it would last as I have not stripped the original colour from the table, nor finished it with a varnish or anything

Hoping you can see the table if I link to it directly at Flickr...

I did try to PM you, but the setting won't let me.

The latest chair was, literally, on the pavement in among a couple of old dining chairs with plastic seats & a formica coffee table, boxes piled on top. I spotted the legs first.
The LA curtains were on a rack of other curtains, I just took time to look at them all.
I saw the corner of the ottoman under a table covered with a pile of books at the back of a tatty shop...took ages to dig out! We had to re-build the lid as it was, umm, revolting :p.

Luck & persistence - for every wonderful find there are 1,000,000 horrible ones

Thanks for trying Luxor. I declined to have PM facility when I joined but now I don't know how to change it!!

Well done on ferreting out all those lovely things.

I'm planning to make some cushion covers from 'vintage linens' (i.e. embroidered tablecloths that I never ever use but can't part with). I think it would be wasteful to use them for the backs, so what would others suggest?
