My Electric Sewing machine died this morning
I will have to get a new one ( Cheaper than having it repaired)
I think it had a nervous breakdown since I started to use it after such a long time.
But I have dug out my Grandmas old Singer hand operated machine and it works great and I am not using any electric!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I think having an old fashioned hand cranked or treadle machine is a good idea for when you just need to do basic stitching like running up curtains or cushions etc, so saving on the electric. Also, if you have a power cut and need to sew, you're still able to.
Not to mention that a lot of the old ones look very nice too! (Mine doesn't unfortunately. It's utilitarian grey metal with a red plastic base, but it works and that's the important thing!)0 -

I'm doing my chair this weekend :j
it looks like this, only 1,000,000 more beautiful (because it is blue with pink floral fabric) & without the pockety thing.
I promise a real photo once DS finally writes down how to download from camera to computer (and I find the leads). I might make a pocket thing to hold my nice book ...once I've finished sanding.

They look nice ISOM....bought some fabric squared in different colours in charity shop, might use them as the base for a quilt....whenever I get round to it...like a bit of handsewing now and again.
