Eggshell is a colour of paint, but it is also a paint finish - usually solvent-based, like gloss, but with a more matt appearance. Having said that, they are probably moving towards a water-based fomula these days.

I prefer it on doors, etc, rather than gloss...

F&B do a water based eggshell. That's what I used on my dresser. Couldn't find a water based eggshell by the other companies though (Crown, Dulux and Homebase).

Jones sewing machines are excellent. I keeping thinking I should replace mine as it 15, doesn't make good buttonholes andis getting a bit cranky (like me!) is but it is still a good sturdy machine that I am used to.
Modern ones are so light - mine is cast iron! Pity they don't seem to make Jones any more.

I'm sewing the seat & back for my directors chair this weekend!

Both of my sewing machines are Jones. I've got my mums old hand cranked one and back in the 80's I bought myself an electric one. Mind you, I have thought about getting a new machine because my electric one only does zig zag and straight stitch and I'd like one that does buttonholes and embroidery stitches.

I might be wrong but I seem to recall that the same people who made Jones machines also do brothers machines so are still around in a strange way I guess!

What do the decals say on the Jones machine? If you can get a clearer look it might help identify the machine. It looks a little like a VS.
