Hi everyone I wanted to post pics of my before and after shots of table, how do I do it? Images are on Flickr but when I tried to insert them here they showed up as a red cross even though I had shared the images?MFW #185

luxor love your stuff - esp the shelves with plates..lovely...
Unsure re sharing potos from flickr as I do mine from photobox which gives you an IMG code ..wen you have that you can click on the icon that looks like a mountain (2nd from right) then cut and paste the code and (hopefully unless my instructions are carp!) when you save it photo shoud come up...alternatively go to your flickr page, copy and paste a link but then people can go via link but can also then see details - ie if its in your real name and have photos on that are personal...HTH?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! luxor4t - that ottoman is ace, i have been given one but it is really old (but so useful eh??) it is white with brown velour top, and a chair to match, was it very difficult to revamp it like you have done?

Not difficult, just takes a bit of time.
If the top padding is in good condition you could re-cover it with fresh fabric using a staple gun, once you've painted, otherwise strip it all off.
Then I brush/vacuum the whole item & give a quick swipe with a damp cloth (found this advice on-line somewhere).
When its fully dry I paint it with silk emulsion. Some people prefer spray paint but I'm asthmatic (& very cheap ) so I go by the slow route. The ottoman took two coats, then a few touches here & there.
Replacing the fabric can be fiddly, but I now cover the staples with wide braid glued on with PVA, so I'm much quicker.

Jamtart: The paint stays on fine, I did a smaller ottoman about 3years ago & it still looks great. DD has a couple of 'my' Lloyds in her student house () and I touch up the bashed bits every so often.

Eager: What a wnice table, ell done! sorry I didn't help with the Flickr thing, I was flying by the seat of my unmentionables myself as DS wasn't around to shout directionsI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Thank you luxor4t it does help! I feel I may need to ask a few more questions when I attempt the ottoman!!
Going to start with a very easy nest of tables that look like they will sand down really nicely! Do you
1. Sand them
2. Undercoat them
3. Paint them with eggshell finish - (does it always have to be eggshell?)
...do you have to gloss them or anything? I'd like a matt effect rather than a blingy shine one ideally!

I loooove ottamans like that - I've done up many of those over the years, I managed to sell most of them on afterwards - they're always highly in demand.
I've no furniture projects on the go at the moment - having just moved I haven't had the time or the need for bringing anything new into the house....I am ploughing on with my patchwork though and will sort some pics later.

Hey, Luxor, I've got the teatowels you used for the patchwork rug ! They're luvvery, aren't they ? I'm afraid that I am, rather unimaginatively, using mine as... Er, teatowels :rolleyes:0
