Tara, step away from ebay lol! I think we need to have another election or something to consume your time. Maybe when you start working on your pine unit, you'll be too busy for ebay (heaven forbid ;) ). It IS pretty though :D.

i've just bought from ebay a gorgeous mantle clock. it in horrid dark wood. but i see potential.lol. the clock is in full working order. can't wait to transform it , from something ok to soething wonderful.

Also found lots of nice wicker baskets , like the shopping style, thought one would make a great fruit basket, i could line it also.

Oh thats a shame :( I got my sewing machine from Tesco Direct in Feb (ordered on line then had it delivered to my local Tesco for free) it was £70 and has been worked to death and is a great machine :)

The one I got is not on there site now but this is a good one :)

    Brother JS23 Sewing Machine
Catalogue number: 100-2696 it is £79.97
or maybe if you have a look on ebay there maybe one on there a bit cheaper.

If you need help with choosing a machine there are lots of sewers on the sewing thread that would be very happy to help you :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

So nice to see this thread taking off again - lots of great ideas

Last year we bought a really sturdy dresser from our local charity shop and painted it - hubby was so chuffed with it - he painted it not me - that he's always on the lookout for more bits to paint

I had to quote this so we can have a another picture of this!
WOW - it is beautiful, you must be delighted with it (DH too). It's great that you could see the potential in the old dark unit, not many people can or they can't be bothered to do a little bit of work ~ and that is how we get our bargains!

Thanks for the tip on the sewing machine. My nearest tesco is about 50+ miles away but I will take a look on line and maybe get it delivered to my friends for her to bring down for me when she visits soon. I cant believe that I gave my machine away when I moved house but as I had lost all interest in sewing then I thought that I wouldnt use it again. I must be happy because my creative side is raring to go again.
I will pop over to the sewing thread (great pun) I didnt even know it existed. Thanks

My sewing machine is a little old singer. When my husbands great nan passed away about 4 years ago it was left to me. it was wonderful. she brought brand new and really looked after it. When it was took to a local singer shop for a service they said they not seen one in such good condition for so long. It is in a little box, not like the big old black singer ones on the wooden base( my mum has one of these) it a lightweight compact one. i love it, didn't realise just how much i'd use it and appreciarte it when i was given it. but it certainly something i'll be treasuring and keeping in the family.

Don't worry m'dear, I'm not that way inclined! How about I offer free kid/dog/cat sitting in exchange for a sea view!?

In all seriousness, your location does sound idyllic. We used to visit Cornwall when I was a kid and I fell in love with the place. Haven't been for years. When I get my caravan and get it shabby chic-ed I'll convince OH he fancies a (long!) drive.

I've been a bit down this week after the mortgage for the new house fell through, but it's looking like we've got another option so all may not be lost. Lots of good vibes and finger crossing please :o I've not really had the heart to do anything house or shabby chic related but hopefully once we've got the new mortgage in place we've been told we'd be looking at a 3 week completion  best get packing!
Bibbity...im sending good vibes to you and have everything crossed that you get your mortgage asap! :D

Oooh, remember these lovely cups from Wysteria Lane ~ well they reminded me of a coffee set I inherited from my DH's grandmother, so i dug them out from under my bed and I had forgotten how beautiful they are, I must find some stands to fit them and get them out on display:

Does anyone know where I can get some nice cup display stands from to show these off, they are quite dinky little things?
