    craftydeb, thats lush. i recently saw a dark dresser like that for sale locally and i liked the shape and design but i never imagine it could look so gorgeous painted, so i passed it up.

    Thanks both of you. When we bought it my kids who are 22 and 18 said it was disgusting! lol But they both liked it when it was painted up. It is such a well made piece so solid :)

    I think some people can only see potential in pine ones and so they go for more
    but as you have seen on here, go for something different, they become beautiful and unique pieces of furniture

    Search on your local classifieds paper, like tradeit. Also charity shop furniture warehouses/shops, there are several in my city now, Emmaus, British Heart Foundation etc. I paid £85 for mine because I saw it and had to have it but I still think it was worth it for a large solid wood piece of furniture. I have seen them for around £35, one was a tatty old dark oak dresser which would have looked fabulous after being sanded and painted etc.

    Having said that, if you set up a search on Ebay so that you get daily emails, I'm sure you can find a bargain eventually if youre prepared to wait.

    ive always thought brother machines were a very good make.
    i today have won a gorgeous dark blue handpainted/decorated enamel jug from ebay when it arrives i will use it for my dried flowers,so excited its lovely.plus also had a text from my FIL that he has found me an old tin bath that i can use for the garden,another great find have been after one for ages

    Thanks, I seemed to recall that my Nan always had Brother. Like the sound of the jug.

    If I were you I would go for it, Brother is a good make of sewing machine :D
    Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)
