I was thinking along the lines of what you said artydoll but I just went back and looked again and realised it is only 41/2 inches high HAHAHA!!!! I am so stupid. Oh well we live and learn!

This looks like 12th scale dollhouse miniature ,would have been lovely bigger.

Oh dear, never mind. You could still paint it though and use it more like an unusual ornament. Is your niece into cats or dogs? A little miniature sleeping cat/dog perched on top would be nice. Oh and maybe a scrap of pretty fabric underneath for a blanket

Thanks for that idea Lily Lou and welcome to the thread

Yes that is what I think too. Well she does have a dollshouse that my grandad made for me when I was her age so maybe I can shabby chic it up anyway.

Have thanked those who commented on my dresser on your posts - don't want to clog up this thread with thanks to you all :)

I am itching to get crafting but sadly work and life gets in the way :(

whats the difference between them tho?!
  • Eggshell, is more hardwearing than emulsion. i think the varnish is more hard wearing than eggshell but not sure i only use emulsion cos i "borrow it" from relatives lol. Plus i got a big tin of clear varnish for reaaly cheap.

im sure that what ever u use, as long as you prep the item well and take care painting it it will look good and wear well

I'm also having trouble painting a table. I sanded it, used two coats of primer/undercoat and then a couple of coats of acryllic eggshell. Its wearing off really quickly though. Every time I put anything on it the paint chips and you can see the dark brown wood beneath. Do I have to varnish it and if so do they make matt varnish as i'm not sure I want it to be shiny. Have I done something wrong for it to be coming off so easily?
