my neighbour moved out just before christmas and the flat she moved to had a much smaller kitchen she put out a amazing silver tall fridge with the thing on front for ice.....only 2 years old if l knew she was going to put it out l would have took it and put it on freecycle but an other neighbour seen it and took it which was great as it saved it going to a landfill
omg i have always wanted one of those! if i saw one of those on the street i think i would try and put it on my back and carry it home!2011- new year, new start.

It might be an idea to request for the person who would like them to help you dismantle, just a thought, I did this when giving away 3 beds (yep more of the stuff when moving and loads of replies for those aswell) same with the shed, because then they'd know how to put them together at the other end, also gave me a hand doing it as 1 5ft person and a screw driver I'd have probably hurt myself
One that did make me giggle, I gave a fridge and freezer away when I got my new american style one, the guy who collected the freezer said 'I'll take that too' :rotfl: and pointed to my new one, because it'd just been delivered and was outside.
Agreed with always be careful too, I've caught someone in my garden who came to collect an item I said I would leave outside, wandering round. I asked what he was doing to which he replied 'just having a look to see what else there was' sheesh! One day I might be more organised...........

i might do that actually. i'm 5'5 and this thing is huge. i remember it taking a whole day for me to assemble on my own- i got it from ikea and i had the bright idea (ok , very stupid idea) that i would be able to get it home on the bus. errr nope! i had to call my friend to borrow his dads car and come pick me up!
pmsl at your 'lurker'. i used to leave anything i didnt want outside my flat for a couple of day before taking it downstairs to the bins so if anyone walking down the stairs would see what was there and take it if they wanted it. a couple of times i came out the door just as someone would be looking at something & frighten the life out of me! i stopped doing it after i caught a tramp going through my rubbish bag though2011- new year, new start.

katiemummy, if you can find out who it belongs to then maybe, but I wouldn't offer anything without finding out who it belongs to and if they mind. Some people wouldn't think twice about accusing you of theft if you took it even when it was dumped outside. One day I might be more organised...........

it would be virtually impossible to find out who it belongs to as there are 90 flats in my block! good idea though2011- new year, new start.

Hi katiesmummy,
Congratulations on your first freecycle pickup!
There are a number of freecycle threads on the Green and Ethical board that should interest you so I'll move your thread over there.
