Dear Customer,
We regret to inform you that XcapeWithUs Ltd has ceased trading as of the 30th April 2009.
Due to the current economic climate XcapeWithUs has been unable to continue trading. The downturn in the travel industry alongside the declining value of the £GBP has sadly made it impossible for us to carry on.
We would like to thank all of our customers for their support and wish to assist you where possible.
Subject to the advice set out below you should make alternative arrangements for your accommodation.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?Please contact your accommodation provider directly to check that your booking will still be honoured by sending an email to customersupport@xcapewithus.com
PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD or VISA DEBIT:
If the provider confirms that the booking will not be honoured, and your booking was made with a Mastercard or Visa credit card or a Visa Debit card, you will need to contact your card issuer for a refund. Please note that your card issuer will require proof that the booking will not be honoured.
PAYMENT BY DEBIT CARD or BANK TRANSFER: If you have paid by Maestro, Switch, Solo or bank transfer we suggest that you check your travel insurance policy to see if you can make a claim.
If you are unable to reclaim your money through your travel insurance then please send an email to claims@xcapewithus.com (with the subject line: 'Xcape With Us Claim'), please include your reference number. There is little likelihood of their being sufficient funds to enable these claims to be metThank youLiz x0 -

I've emailed Olympia and will see what response I get.
Someone ought to contact the Spanish Embassy in London and see if they can help since it is a Spanish company.0 -
Ok, all may not be lost, I believe my hotel booking was made via hotelbedsonline and have just called my Hotel in Venice and the booking is still showing as valid and paid in full
However, I do not have a voucher as this is no longer accessible on the xcapewithus.com website, anyone know how I can get the voucher and also anyone have a contact number for hotelbedsonline as I would like to check the booking with them?
Thanks in advance0 -
!!!!!!! It's absolutely absurd how the government has allowed holiday bonding to fall into such a horrendous state. That a company can sell hotels on a mass scale with no regulation or protection is appalling. I'm truly sorry to everyone that has to go through the whole rigamorole of trying to get money back, and in some cases, not. Holidays ruined, money lost, not what the travel industry needs at the moment.
My company voluntarily protects any accommodation only booking. This was our choice, and costs us about 1% on top of any bookings. However, we've seen people book elsewhere and unprotected to save 1-2%!! It's about time accomodation providers were forced to 'bond' everything. Yes, there would be a cost to the consumer, but if it was mandatory, and only 1% extra, I don't think many people would actually be complaining for the additional security.0 -
To me bonding is more about when the accommodation provider goes bankrupt. Xcapewithus are supposed to receive my money, take their cut and then pass it on to the accommodation provider. Simple transaction.
Yes there are currency issues, but you adjust your prices to the currency fluctuations. Sterling has changed very little this year, and my suspicion is that most of the outstanding bookings would have been made this year.
The fact that they seem to be saying that there is no money for people makes me think that something has gone badly badly wrong. Once they knew they did not have enough money to cover the bills they should have stopped trading. At that point they should still have had the majority of people's money to return to them.
My suspicion is they have been holding money in sterling hoping that the currency will go back in sterling's favour. When the main holiday season approached and sterling had not recovered they were scuppered. If they had just paid the suppliers as they went along, as they should have done, we would not have been in this mess.
I'd have paid 1-2% extra for bonding but I was offered over 10% cheaper. Therefore I thought it was worth the risk. I thought my insurance would provide me with some cover, and therefore delayed taking insurance because of it , but then quickly bought my usual which does not as soon as swine flu broke.
I admit though I would not do this again.0 -
Anyone had any response from customersupport@xcapewithus.com yet?
