  • Morning all!!

Thanks very much for all the replies! Especially your very comprehensive responses Adrianhi! I see what you're saying about the blood sugar levels and keeping them constant - I just can't snack on bread though. I know it's purely psychological - but I'm a proper carb queen, and the only way I can rid of myself of the constant cravings, is to try and avoid it as much as possible.

Both you and Binky seem to eat a reasonable amount though - I tend to eat less, but more often. I'd quite happily have 5/6 small meals per day. Like you though, I'm in an office based job so keeping myself moving is not always easy to do! Plus - the sheer boredom of what I do now seems to keep me thinking about food all the time - which is probably what's stimulating my appetite!

I haven't done too badly so far this week though, Monday was a very lazy chill out day (I've been working 7 days since the beginning of Feb and that was my 1st weekend off), but Tuesday I managed my brief stint on the treadmill, last night I got back to my salsa lessons - which was 90 mins worth of dancing, tonight I have fat busting boot camp, and tomorrow night I'm meeting the personal trainer that takes the classes to get a plan organised for me!

Adrianhi - how did you figure out the number of calories you use in a day? I've had a look on calorie count - used it for a couple of days - but haven't seen that part?

I was amazed by the experiment that showed that having meals liquidised into a soup kept you fuller for longer than eating it in the solid form.
Yesterday with the baked potatoe for lunch was unusual. Most days I have a soup and a couple of slices of bread (stopped bothering with marg.). Today I will have a can of Sainsbury's be good to yourself spicy tomatoe and lentil soup 176 calories for the whole can. I defintately find it easier to keep going through the afternoon after a soup like this compared to a sandwich with the same or more calories

Missed that program, might try to catch it on iplayer.
  • LOL - it's funny how we always want to be what we're not! I'm 5'7" and have spent years wishing I was just a couple of inches smaller! ;)

When you first sign up you tell it gender, age, height, weight and goal weight for a particular date. First thing it will do is tell you a more realistic date for your goal if your being too optimistic.
From this and your life style it comes up with this estimate of calories used and it changes throughout the day with the daily total for me at 2030 calories. I strongly suspect I use a bit less than this as I find I have to get down to the 1500 a day rather than 1700 a day it suggests to be loosing 1-2lbs a week.
Don't anyone go by my calorie numbers, they are for a male, office worker, 38 year old, 5ft 11" tall getting an average of 6 hours sleep a night (children *sigh*).
Apparently sleep and stress levels make a difference, better rested and less stressed your are, easier it is to loose weight, chemistry at work. Cannot remember where I read that now.

I know exactly what you mean! when i was 17/18 i had a terrible lifestyle and diet and i was only about 6 stone i looked really ill. i don't really remember exactly when all my weight went on but it must have been the last 5 years cos i remember pictures from when i was about 20 and i thought i looked healthy, my diet and lifestyle was definitely better, but i wasn't knowledgeable enough then to maintain the weight so it just started to go up. I think since having a baby my body shape has changed anyway so i don't think i'll ever make it back to that 20 year old body so i don't expect perfection.
It would just be nice to be able to open the wardrobe every day and wear whatever i like without worrying how i'll look in it. And to be able to have a cuddle with my fella without wobbly bits getting in the way :rotfl:
