    thanks lizzie!

I think I am feeling doubly frustrated as I am away from home too as well as being a paranoid first timer! what really annoyed me is that in week 5 I was ill with a possible ectopic which was the week before I moved and even though I told them the gp this, she seemed quite dismissive, I know it wasn't ectopic but I can't see how she didn;t see my general anxiety. Added to that I have borderline high blood pressure and she knows that as saw me a number of weeks before she apparently actually sent the referral letter.

Looked up schedule of appointments and found this:
    http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40000185/
    First (booking) appointment

Should be before 12 weeks of pregnancy. May need to be two appointments because of volume of information required to be imparted. All information should initially be offered verbally and backed up in writing with an opportunity to discuss and ask questions.
Offer early scan for assessment of gestational age preferably performed at 10-13 weeks measuring the crown-rump length. Alternatively, at or after 14 weeks measure bi-parietal diameter, or circumference of head.
    Further appointments
    • 16 weeks: This appointment should be used to review the results of earlier tests, discuss them with the patient and if necessary institute a changed pattern of antenatal care having identified those women who require additional care. Consider offering oral iron to women with a haemoglobin <11g/dl.
    • 18-20 weeks: This appointment is for women who have agreed to a test for fetal structural anomalies. If the placenta is found to cover the internal cervical os, the scan should be repeated at 36 weeks.
    • 25 weeks: This appointment is for nulliparous women and as well as routine procedures e.g. BP check, proteinuria screening, should include measurement and plotting of symphysis-fundal height.
N.B. All appointments from this point should routinely include measurement and plotting of symphysis-fundal height.
    • 28 weeks: This appointment is for all pregnant women and, in addition to routine procedures, they should be offered another opportunity to screen for anaemia and atypical red cell allo-antibodies, investigate and treat haemoglobin <10.5 g/dl and offer anti-D prophylaxis for rhesus-negative women.
    • 31 weeks: This appointment is for nulliparous women and as well as routine procedures it should include a review of screening tests performed at 28 weeks with reassessment of care needs and identification of those that need extra care.
    • 36 weeks: This appointment is for all pregnant women and in addition to routine procedures should allow for checking of the position of the fetus with external cephalic version offered to women with a breech presentation. Where previous scan showed the placenta covering the internal cervical os, this should be reviewed.
    • 38 weeks: This appointment is for all pregnant women for all routine procedures to be performed.
    • 40 weeks: This appointment is for all pregnant women for all routine procedures to be performed.
    • 41 weeks: This appointment is for all pregnant women who are not yet given birth and in addition to all routine procedures patient should be offered a membrane sweep and/or induction of labour.

Always, a lot of Drs operate in different ways... I booked an appointment with the midwife myself and she rang and booked my scan appointment while I was there... Some people have the scan and booking in appointment at the same time... I would wait until you're home and then give the surgery another call... You can always book a Dr appointment to get your blood pressure checked if you're worried... The trouble with health professionals is that they are not nearly as excited about our pregnancies as we are...

You know its not going to be a fun phonecall when someone says 'feel free to say no...' I just got invited to do a radio interview on a black country radio station... I politely declined... I'm far too pregnant to be stuttering on the radio... Besides... I got lumbered with Ed Doolan and radio WM last year... Surely someone elses this year...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I'm cleaning. If he goes through the f'n bin again to make sure I'm not throwing out anything he really needs I'm going to rip his head off. A collection of recipes for frozen peas does not count as essential.

My OH does this - he thinks I might chuck something away that he might need. IMO if you've not needed it for the last 5 years it can go in the bin :rotfl:

ooh, thats a handy link - found the NICE ones too http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/CG62/Guidance/pdf/English

which says 10 - 13.6 weeks too. Lets blame my annoyedness at being 5,000 miles away. I think also because I found out so early and not being well early on makes it feel like everything is taking so long! Only another 29 weeks to go, how impatient am I!!!

I know we've not even had the first scan but DP and I have decided we want to know the sex which would be at the 20-ish week scan, right? It's for planning and not my desire for retail therapy, honest!!!!

Ok random question, did any of you ladies ever get the feeling like you had a mobile inside you ringing on vibrate every so often, but subtly?

I have been getting this all week, initially though my phone was going off in my bag, but no then though it was somethin downstairs at work coming up through my seat, but also no. Not sure if the baby could be vibrating like a mobile on vibrate???? So far not definitely felt the bellyferret so thought I'd see if this was a common thing or if I am just a weirdo

    YES :T I'm not alone!

I had this yesterday, I was searching for my mobile and it wasn't even in the same room.

Right, woke up in a right bad mood and don't feel much better!
Have spent the day at a boring meeting working out how much time I can have off and actually contemplating having my annual leave before ML.
Work is soooooooooooooooo stressful and I'm havign to pick up other people's work as well.

Sounds like it's been a pretty crappy day all around - hugs to everyone!

Shelvis - nice to see u back!
