Hmm... There is a meeting of the maternity services liason comitee at my local hospital on Monday... I could go as an employee... Or a service user... As long as I'm not in labour at the time... Just need to decide if I have the energy to get to the bus and back or not...

On the plus side... They always lay on a nice lunch...

I swear I remember reading something about a free button you can get from Transport for London saying "baby on board" or whatever so that people will know to give up their seat for you! Maybe they'll send you one even if not in London, hehe...:T

(found it! http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/3665.aspx - maybe I can request 10 or so and post them to peeps, lol)

Let me know if you get a reply, I could do with a badge as well so I don't have to ask people for a seat :o

hey, this is silly, but do you think my MW will look for the HB at my booking appt, since I will be very close to 12wks? would be very cool if I didn't have to wait all the way til my dating scan to hear the bub!

I doubt it very much aless, they generally don't try before 16 weeks and even then some don't... Think I was about 22/24 weeks before they tried for mine...

ah, okay - some of the books say something like 'your MW may try and listen to your baby's heartbeat from 12 weeks' or whatever, but I know not to believe them! :P

Mine didn't bother trying for the heartbeat till way after 12 weeks :) But if you have your 12 week scan you can see it on the screen usually...

details here GBSS - Group B Strep Support
You have to pay to be tested privately as NHS blood test is about as useful as a choccy teapot  I wanted to cover all areas as I'm having homebirth so if bubba was to suddenly get ill I couldn't just press buzzer for help IYSWIM its relatively rare but very dangerous
