Oh dear, my suggestion was going to be a slow cooker....is this perhaps a good chance for your little darlings to learn to love stew?! You can also make chilli, spag bol etc. in one but you'd need a cooking ring to make rice etc. I'd buy a small camping stove or a small one ring burner to do rice etc. You might get one on Freecycle?Piglet

you wouls be amazed at all the thing we cook on the carcoal and have one nearly every sunday no matter what the weathers like, and we always do a piglet on the spit over charcoal outside on christmas day,you can wrap potatoes in tin foil on the bbq, just burry them deep in the carcoal not on top, takes about 45 min, mushrooms with garlic and lemon, steaks taste great and corn on the cob. Prawns on a sewer brushed with a little garlic butter...the list is endless. But toster bags are good as well, the ones on the adverts they can even be used for baked beans, warming pastrys, hot filled sandwiches, tuna sweet corn and chesse is my fave.People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

Get a slow cooker, and tell your kids stew it is for dinner, and to watch the news of all those poor people and kids who are displaced and had no food for 3 days or so!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

prehaps you could borrow an electric steamer if you know someone who has one and then at least you could cook fresh veg to go with your meals that you do in the microwave - when i was at home my parents kitchen took a week to complete but it was in the summer so at least we could have salad with our meals - but its getting a bit cold for that - we had to borrow a toaster so we could have breakfast in the morning - it taught me that you can get up a wee bit later if you dont have to watch the grill - a valuble life lesson - when i moved out i made sure i had a toaster.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. I've recently seen a 2 burner electric hotplate - at Somerfield I think - for under £30. You could get one of these and resell it after you get your kitchen is back!
Pasta - boil water in a kettle, put pasta in your micro steamer or in another suitable sized container. Add water almost to the top of the container then wrap the container to keep it warm. The water doesn't need to be kept boiling to cook the pasta. I've started doing this to save electricity and I can assure you that it does work. When cooked just add previously frozen HM pasta sauce heated in the microwave.
If your micro steamer is like mine it will cook rice very well - I do one glass rice to 2 glasses water after washing the rice well 1st.
Oh, and perhaps buy/borrow a microwave recipe book.
Finally, depending on the money situation, you could buy a Remoska...........:rotfl:

I haven`t used my oven for 6 months. I use a remoska and it can cook anything. Get or make a divider (silver foil) and get a rack if possible and stand it on a hard surface eg a piece of wood. Have a look at the remoska thread
I also use a portable `stellar` induction hob. It will cook anything in a stainless steel pan and is very safe and quick to use0 -
we've just been through the same situation, with having an extension built, so we know how tough it is.
Sorry i cant be any more help, as most of the things that other people have suggested is generally what we ate and we still had use of an oven so we had frozen pizzas quite a bit,................but just imagine when its all finished what i lovely kitchen you'll have.

I second the remoska suggestion - we rarely even use our oven anymore since we've gotten this - and it cooks beautifully. Today we are having a roast chicken (whole chicken) with roasted carrots and potatoes - all cooked in the remoska. This morning, my DS ate a scone from the batch I made in the remoska yesterday. I really can't recommend it highly enough. It can do pretty much everything an oven can do, but uses less power. We have the grande size, as we are a family of 5.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

When we moved to our house we were without an oven for a month. I had two small portable hotplates. I used a stackable steamer pot which i bought at lakeland, it is a saucepan with two tiers on top. Potatoes would cook in the bottom, brocoli next layer up and anything else on top. We also used the slow cooker a lot. If anybody can lend you a pressure cooker that would help you out. I made a lot of one pot meals like chicken and noodles etc...0
