Allow people to withdraw some of their private pension early to help them avoid financial difficulty in the current economic climate. Yes I want a good retirement but would also like to keep my home now thanks!
    Current Debt - [strike]£38000[/strike] [strike]£32000[/strike] [strike]£28500[/strike] [strike]£22000[/strike] [strike]£16000[/strike] [strike]£10000[/strike] [STRIKE]£1500[/STRIKE] £14000:eek:
  • Scrap ALL taxes except Income Tax and consolidate all taxes into that single tax, lets see exactly what we are voting for!
  • Ban fees for paying utility & 'phone bills quarterly

British Telecom and other utilities should be banned from adding an 'account service fee' to the bills of those who chose to see their bill before they pay it.

Air travel prices should be transparent and include everything, ALL taxes, baggage allowances so the price you see is ALL you will pay to get you to your destination. No more nasty hidden surprises you are unable to avoid at the airport!

Simplify pensions: reinstate the link to salaries and do away with the appalling system of means-tested applications that is currently required to receive what is deemed 'necessary'. It is shameful that we have such a low national pension in this supposedly 'wealthy country'.
  • Broadband Honesty
Introduce honesty boxes (like those on credit cards) for broadband - price, speed, contention, throttling and download caps. Automatic right to cancel if any of these change for the worse during contract.

    Bank Fee & Charge Honesty
Banks to make available all fees and charges for your account. Letter sent once per year per account covering all fees for that account (and only that account) and always available on the internet.

    Online Honesty
All companies that trade on the internet from the UK to display their registered company name and address before taking payment.

    Train Company Honesty
Guaruntee that customers always offered the cheapest ticket when buying at machine, counter or on-line. If cheaper to buy two tickets (e.g. London-Newcastle then Newcastle-Edinburgh), then that cheaper price should be applied. If customer finds cheaper fair, then full refund.

    Fair Treatment to Flyers
Airlines are too good at getting out of paying delay compensation.
Tighten the rules around "out of airlines control" to be more meaningful.
Compensation paid on arrival if more than 2 hours later than scheduled, if not paid prioir to departure.

    CCA Protection
Establish a mechanism so that consumers can be sure whether an on-line transaction is protected by CCA
  • Simplify Taxes
Government to raise revenue through income tax, VAT, corporation tax and capital gain tax.
All sin taxes (alcohol, cigarattes, flying, fuel, road) to be 100% ring-fenced to reducing / repairing the damage caused by the activity.
E.g. all cigarette tax spent on cancer research and quitting advice.
  • Credit Card Surcharges
Companies that charge card-payment surcharges should not be allowed to profit from it.
The fees they charge should be identical to what they are being charged by their provider, and this should be independently verified.
  • By not taxing airline fuel, other taxes are higher, competition with road/rail is unfair, and those of us who cannot afford to fly are unfairly subsidising those who can. Also, the subsidy encourages flying by those who can afford to, increasing pollution and greenhouse gases, and depleting the worlds resources.
  • Price Comparison Sites - Full Disclosure
All commission, for all price comparison sites (card, energy etc) to be declared up-front before the introduction takes place
