    Simple AND Cheap

It should be possible to buy tickets for unfixed date/time trips at the SAME price as fixed date/time travel. London to Peterborough fixed date and time - £16. Same journey ANYTIME ticket - £34. Why? We were promised ticket pricing reform. It doesn't appear to have happened.

If Earning £16000 or under No income tax to pay:
This would lift people out of poverty, allow everyone real choice to work. Would save money as big proportion of benefits system wouldnt be needed and prevent wastage from processing and administering tax credit and housing/ council tax benefit system

    MP's Expenses
Stop all MP's expenses and increases the basic salary to £80,000. this will do away with the Fees Office, stop unjustified claims, reduce costs and convince taxpayers that there will not be a repeat of the present fiasco.

I think they should be paid a low basic salary, but receive a bonus for each time their party makes good on a promise.

Scrap standing charges and meter rentals. The meters are for the benefit of the supplier, not the consumer, but it's the consumer who pays to have it there.

All pricing from every company should be "The price you see is the price you pay". eg £115, not £100 + vat

People who use Waste Transfer Stations or are seen to recycle efficiently should get a reduction in Council Tax

  • Bank of England (or nominated bank) holds deposits which government guarantees 100%. Return on these accounts to be a percentage (75% ?) of base rate. One deposit or withdrawal pa to keep costs down.

All other deposits are at depositors risk. NO MORE BAIL OUTS. If a bank fails then let it go. Banks to put health warning on all documentation.
  • Share options are a "victimless crime" but nevertheless a dilution of real shareholders holdings.
I would go further and suggest that staff (especially directors) should not hold shares in the company they are employed by if it is SE quoted.
We should clearly differentiate rewards for risk from the rewards for management and operation.
  • Create disincentives for speculators.
    1. Shares sold within a 100 weeks of purchase suffer tax on gains. 100% in week 1 reducing by 1% per week until normal CGT cuts in.
    2. Ban short selling and "borrowing" of shares.
    3. Tax gains on options, derivatives and other hedging instruments as for 1 above.
  • Financial institutions cream off all the brightest graduates, who have mostly been educated at the taxpayers expense. The future lies in their hands and they should be employed more usefully in research and development.
Finance and marketing companies should pay government a bounty for each graduate recruited - somewhere between £250k and £1m.

These institutions are global - governments are national. The institutions will always win unless we move the goalposts, the pitch and the football !
